Is the "plastic chrome" used on Japanese Cruiser Bikes better than " metal chrome" cause its lightweight
and its never rusts, and its easy to clean?
When the HD Owners cut down and make fun of the plastic chrome on my bike I explain to them its there for a perpose, mostly for making the bike as lightweight as possible.
HD Owners say its there only because its a cheap, generic rice burner bike!
Who's right?

Plastic is injection molded, making it cheaper to manufacture in mass production. Plastic is lighter, resulting in better fuel economy. Plastic has a smoother surface so the chrome finish is better. Plastic doesn't rust or "ding" and is more apt to hold it's shape if hit (providing it isn't hard enough to break it). Plastic gives Harley rider and wannabes something to joke about.

If you do not keep it up the immatation chrome will be worse in years to come. But to each thier own. I like real chrome better and can make it shine better than the other. there is a lot more to chrome than people think and real chrome cost a fortune because a lot of the chemicals and such to work with it in manufactuering. So yes yours is a lot cheaper and will not dent as easy as the real thing but you will never get the real shine. To each thier own. Real chrome is high maintenance too.

You've never been right about anything, so it must be the HD riders. Actually they have to use plastic chrome otherwise the cheap tin couldn't hold it up.

it doesn't matter, it's pure preference.... i prefer chrome to plastic.... i can get bugs off chrome where i'd swirl and scratch plastic up. a rock may pit chrome, but it will shatter plastic
and nothing looks worse than plastic chrome peel when it delaminates or whatever causes that... and it does happen
