Can anyone tell me what Grappa tastes like?

Grappa tastes like a really crappy cognac

I agree with Anthony P. They make it with the leftover skins etc. made from the wine making process. It's like bad cognac with an intense burn. My family is Italian and used to make wine. They cracked up when grappa got popular in the US and all the yuppies were paying through the nose for it.

It is indeed fiery hot. Better tasting than vodka and more mild than brandy (which it also may be) or whiskey. Nothing is going to replace experience. So get a bottle and share it with friends.

had some once that a friend brought back from Italy and I thought it tasted like lighter fluid or really harsh vodka. it burns your throat. I just don't get it.

ive never had it, but i went to italy, and my father had some. he said it was terribly strong, tasted kind of like lighter fluid.
