2.5lbs a week is a really good amount and you can achieve this with a healthy, balanced diet and exercise. If you just starve yourself, then you only hang on to fat for longer. Having a cold shower doesn't prevent stretch marks. They happen when you are growing and the skin gets stretched so the only way to minimize them is to always keep your skin moisturized so that when the skin stretches, it's more maliable.

2lb a week is fine (i think.....) but only if your losing weight the healthy way by eating the right things and exercising.

Any more that 2lb a week is pushing it a little and should be avoided.

As for cold showers preventing stretch marks..... im not sure if that is correct. I think the cold shower is more of a muscle recovery thing than a strecth mark thing.

Keep eating healthy and try to avoid eating on the night time and start jogging and the weight will drop off in no time.

It really depends on how much weight you have to lose in the first place. The more overweight you are the more weight you tend to lose to start with. The closer you get to your target weight the slower the loss becomes. Ideally you should aim to lose 1-2lb per week. Not because anymore is muscle loss, but because you are less likely to put it all back on again afterwards if it has come off slowly. You need to learn healthy eating habits that you can stick to long term. I personally don't see any benefits from having a cold shower after a workout although it can't do you any harm.
