Do we need to study the word of God before we can be saved?

Isn't that working for salvation?

God has total freedom of Will. He decides if any one person or another is saved. It does not depend on anything that person has ever thought or done. There is no way to buy or garner salvation by God through good works such as tithing, studying the bible, even going through baptismal rituals or initiations of any kind.

The best we can do as individual Souls is purify our beings and pray that he does have mercy upon our Souls. That is the truth of it all.

Salvation is a free gift of God to all people regardless if they believe in him or not. Because all will anyway. Salvation is from the Fall - death of the body and separation from God. Salvation facilitates our resurrection and our return to the presence of God to be judged.

All men are saved. Now there is more than salvation.

No, salvation comes only through accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior; you are not saved by studying God's Word. This is an erroneous belief that Jesus confronted the Pharisees with--"You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life" (John 5:39-40). They studied the Scriptures, but never accepted who Jesus was, so all their studying was in vain--they completely missed the point.

After you've accepted Jessus, you'll probably want to study Scripture to continue to get to know God, but studying is not what saves you.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lestanyone should boast. (Eph. 2:8-9). Studying the word of God has its place in the life of the true believer of the gospel, that is, one who has been saved. It is the aftermath of the new birth (also called the born-again experience). Anyone who is not yet quickened by the Holy Spirit would not have the appetite to read even to study the word of God.

You should not approach the Bible as a book you need to study. Rather, you should approach it as the Holy Word of God in reverance and prayer. Getting to know God is not work; it is an honor, a privelage, and a joy.

We need to OBEY the word of God . Put ACTION to it!

The WORD of God is the WORKS... John 10:35-38.

"clean the inside of the cup and the platter and the outside of them will become clean."

Instruction given to us by Jesus... the physical manifestation of the word of God.

It is not Jesus (the man) that we are to believe in, but the works the man Jesus spoke of and illustrated while he was on earth, and we believe the works by obeying (putting action to) the works... "though you believe not me, believe the works..."

Putting action to these works IS the process of salvation.

We need to hear the Word of God or study it so that we will know what we are doing when we receive Christ into our hearts and we can be sincere.

"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ.

There are so many different christians faiths and they do not teach the sames things, so yes, you will first need to study the bible and find out for yourself if what they teach speaks true to your heart.

In the 1st century Chrisians did not have to deal with so many different faiths. There was only one faith. Today there are many different faiths within christianity.

Do you believe Jesus is the only true God, or is it the one who sent forth Jesus into the world [the Father] who is the only true God?
