That statement was perhaps initially produced by an individual from a society in which there is a special cake for every individual, a cake of great and immense and awe-inspiring beauty, but which cannot be obtained until after a series of impossible tests and trials have been endured. Until such time as it can be obtaind, the cake cannot be eaten, so having one's cake and eating it too... well, what greater glory!

That's just IT! You've answered your own question. It is an impossibility. You can not have the cake if you eat it and you can not eat it if you keep it. It is saying you won't let go of either desires. Therefore such greed only paralyzes you and gains you NOTHING...but that you do not consider.

your forgetting those fake plastic show cakes everyone sees in commericials that everyone wants. you can have the most wonderful looking cake in the world. but if it's plastic i would say your content with it's beauty
