what would you do?

I went to a new hairdressing place in a small town. I was i think the last customer and there were about 3 employees. The lady that either owns or runs it started saying out loud , "I hate sand N...'s. i was in total shock. i was stunned I left shortly after that without saying anything. It just is wearing on me that i didn't call her down on it. It has been a week and I still think I should go back or something. What would you do? What should I do ?

I would document everything including the time of day, quantity of people, and who was in the shop at the time. I WOULD NOT personally go back into that shop. Those folk who are that blatant, wouldn't stop at insulting language. You would be putting yourself 'in danger.' The people there might use you as an example that you shouldn't complain, although they were offensive to you.

I would write a letter to the Attorney General's office in your state about this concern. You can believe that this matter will be appropriately investigated. I keep a post office box for the purpose of NOT being harrassed about complaints and issues that I have problems with. I don't want folk trying to bother my family, writing me letters or placing a fiery cross on my lawn. Ignorant folk have a lot of time to be "foolish" and even be extremely dangerous. If you don't own a post office box, get one in a nearby town that isn't "too nearby." Your situation will be resolved. Also, if I were you, I would use my first initial and last name to write letters of this type and NOT indicate female or male. The problem with this situation is that this is about a beauty shop. Thus, it will be understood that a woman is writing about this matter. What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, WHO can be against us? - Romans 8:31 The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the GOD of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace!!!

I would go back there (in a cool, calm and collected manner)

and ask to speak to the boss as I have a complaint to make.

If that person who spoke out loudly says "I am the boss".

Then tell her how you were offended by the comments that

were made that day and ask for an apology.

If there is no apology tell her you will take the matter further

Then remain calm and ask her for their telephone number and

postal address as you will be taking the matter to the department of consumer affairs.

Then write down the whole incident as documentation is very

important when it comes to matters like this.

Then take your documentation to the department of consumer

    affairs.

That is the way it would happen our country.

May God bless you, have a good day.

Go let her know what's up.

Thats really just not cool.. or okay for that matter.

Annnd I know this piece is from the Holocaust (we had a speaker come to our high school and he read this) and not a rude woman in a salon, but I think that in a way..it relates to what you're dealing with.

Speak up..its what should do I believe.

One person can make a world of difference to another person.

Plus, I'm sure you'd feel much better!

    They came for the Jews, and I didn't object - For I wasn't a Jew;

Then they came for me - And there was no one left to object."

leave it alone, contrary to idealistic beliefs and rousing high school valedictorian addresses, one person can not do anything against such a deep seated hate as racism, just like the war on drugs, it is a futile endeavor. dont believe the high minded hype that " one person can change the world". you'll only recur resentment from the one you attempted to rebuke.

If I was in your shoes I would write a letter to the owner and let them know what you heard and that it was offensive and that you will never take your business there and that you will be sure to let all of your friends, family, co-workers know what happened.
