Beta with Fin Rot, Switching Tactics and Need Advice ASAP?

Hey kids, I posted on here about two weeks ago because my Beta had fin rot. The levels in his 6.6 gallon tank are fine, I've been monitoring them closely. I was told to try Beta Fix, which I have been using and it seemed to get better for like a day, and then only worse and worse. I got some Maracyn to try tonight. This morning was the last time I put betafix in. Do I need to empty out all the water and clean out the tank before I use the Maracyn? I wasn't sure if the two would play well together, or how much betafix would even still be in the water. I've been adding it daily like an idiot. What a terrible idea. Anyways, what would you do when you are switching from some kind of non-medication crapola to actual medication. I'm afraid he's going to die if I don't do something SOON.

Thanks

Update:

also, will maracyn kill my java fern?

Update 2:

I had been adding the salt as well. It isn't working.

depends whats in beta fix-maracyn can be used with some meds(it tells you on the leaflet+whats in their meds so you might find it there) and be careful with the salt as levels can build up too much.if you find they cant be mixed do a 50% water change and add activated carbon to the filter for a couple of days-that should remove any traces.

edit: I just checked and you can use both medications together(bettafix just contains tea tree oil) and Maracyn wont kill your Java fern

you don't need to add any medication all you have to do is add 1 tablespoon of salt to every gallon of water. add one tablespoon of salt in the morning and one at night do this until the fish is better, don't forget to do a water change every week(thats empting 10% of the water and add fresh water). ooo yea and dont empty the whole tank it will only make your fish stressed. hope your fish gets better.
