vision changes, blurry with floaters what's wrong?

i woke up from bed with slightly blurred vision in both eyes. it totally cleared in one eye within a few minutes but one eye is still blurry/cloudy and i'm seeing spots and flashes of light and color that will not go away. it gets better for a while but then comes back. overall though my vision isnt getting any worse and it's only in one eye. i'm at work and cannot see a doctor until i get off in the morning. what should i do until then?

** i'm not diabetic, i havent had any injuries or trauma (to cause a retinal detachment), my blood pressure isnt high, and i don't have any headaches

Update:

edit** no i dont have contacts and have never had any vision issues before. my eyesight has always been normal 20/20

Update 2:

i'm 22 and i don't know about a family history. i know my mom began to have vision trouble (nearsightedness) recently in her mid 40's and was diagnosed with mild high pressure (not full blown glaucoma yet) but my dad's eyes are ok for his age (needs reading glasses in his early 50's) i don't know anything about any other family members (all grandparents were dead before i was 10)

Update 3:

i went to the doctor this morning when i got off work. i have central serous retinopathy ( a pinhole in my retina that's leaking fluid). he said it should heal without treatment in 4 to 6 months

See an opthamologist right away. Those signs could mean something is wrong. Don't neglect that eyesight.

How old are you and does your family have any history of glaucoma?

    add on:

Hmmm. Do consult your optometrist to create a baseline then. If the floaters and flashes really is affecting your vision greatly, you might wish to go for a surgery to remove them. But of course there is risk for such surgeries. Try not to worry too much as well, you will be fine (=

Do you wear contacts? If so retinal detachment is possible. I have floating objects in my right eye and the md said that they would always be there since I detached my retina somehow. He said it was most likely from my pulling my contacts out when they are dry or suctioned to my eyes after rubbing them...just a thought.

Go home 'sick' while you can still see well enough (but drive carefully). Explain your vision problem. If your employer won't let you go, you might want to patiently explain to him/her the legal implications of making you stay when your vision is not at it's normal level.

Then go to a hospital or wait until morning to see an opthamologist (not an optometrist).

    I hope it's nothing serious.....good luck.

Floaters associated with flashes, black spot on top ---- all point to retinal detachment.Get your eyes checked by a retina specialist.
