What sort of hardware do I use to connect 2 PC's to 1 printer?

Hardwired via USB connections and not wireless. Thanks

USB cables are ineffective for more than very basic file transfers. I don't think they even use a standard networking protocol.

The best option, if you have no router, and the computers have Ethernet ports, is to buy a cheap Ethernet patch cable (I'm even seeing them in Dollar Tree now) and connect the that way. Set up the networking so that one has an IP of 192,168,0.1 and the other 192.168.0.2. Set each IP address as the other's gateway, and make sure you have printer sharing enabled.

You could use a USB printer sharing port device, such as from BELKIN, or for more reliable and always-on printing, use a print server, either wired or wireless. (ask the salesperson how to hook it up)

usually USB will not get it done. You need to wire them through a network switch or router.
