Race profiling eyed for terror probes...So America IS racist? Glad they admitted it or as disgusted as me?
The justice department thinks its a great idea to let the FBI investigate "Americans without any evidence of wrongdoing," instead singling people out for being Arab and Muslim. Don't people understand that we can't racially stereotype Muslims? Its a religion, people from ANY race can join. This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard.
The only pro I can come up with is that we can no longer deny, as many have, that our country is still extremely racist. How can we think programs that correct inequality are wrong, when we still have inequality in this country and apparently see no need to change it? Whats next, every white guy can be stopped on the street and questioned as a potential child molester (they are the most common offenders)? What is this world coming too.....
Arabs who are not terrorists far out weigh those who are, so stereotyping everyone is not just wrong, it is discriminatory...again most child rapists are white- does every white guy deserve prejudiced profiling? If not, is it because he is white or for some other reason?
Did I mention Bush doesn't even support this idea and yet many people on here do...
Ryan- "I would suspect you have racial issues in your mind since you automatically run towards a racial explanation."
Yes exactly, considering the headline includes the words "Racial Profiling," how could I not think of something racial? But you're right, violating peoples' rights based on their race or religion is great, the Constitution was so wrong.

Like it or not, not many blue eyed blonde haired people flew planes into buildings on 9/11. How about some East Asians? How about some red haired Irishman?
For me race is like hair color or eye color. It has nothing to do with individual people, but it is something you can physically describe someone with. So if a group of individuals have a certain skin color, its not going after them because they are a certain skin color, but because a certain group of individuals who are causing harm have a certain characteristic.
I would suspect you have racial issues in your mind since you automatically run towards a racial explanation. Maybe you should reflect yourself on the role of race in society seeing its on the top of your mind.

Not profiling based on indisputable facts and historic evidence is simply PC gone awry and not a very effective way to curb the overt threats from a singular ethnic group - searching 75 year old grandmothers while allowing thirty something Muslims to pass through because random checks are more desirable and fair is absolute lunacy at best and very dangerous at worse.

This is so wrong!!!! Everyone knows that the Swedes, Japanese and Laplanders were responsible for the 9/11 bombings. Why are we bothering poor Muslims-especially the radical type?????

Who cares what you believe the pros and cons are for this issue, if it protects me from future terrorist attacks, let it be.

Maybe when we find some Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Wiccan, Mormon etc. terrorists you will be right.
