Take it off the body of a man shot with a rifle?

Bullet proof vests are at best protection against handguns only. Add a ceramic plate and you might stop a few incoming AK rounds, but those are 'intermediate' rounds, your magnum hunting rifle round is going to blast right through like you were wearing a wet paper sack.

I dont know much about bullet proof vests but i know they come in different levels. you can get expensive ones that will almost stop a rifle bullet or you can cheap ones that are just for things like shotgun shells when hunting. (cuz when theres alot of people someones gonna get hit). make sure you know what you need before buying.

you can order and purchase them custom fit to you thru any law enforcement supply (copshop) in your area. As long as they are not restricted by local ordinance. There is no federal, and very few state ordinances against a civillian owning one, and in some areas, it's smart to wear one. They come in different levels of protection and can look like a dress vest, or go on up to extra bulky. I have seen a company in every issue of shotgun news (available at barnes and noble or other book stores) that sells the clamshell type vest with trauma plates.

Try the Police supply stores and/or uniform stores. Be aware, the last ballistic vest I saw a few weeks ago carried a price tag of $599.
