I'm a retired police officer, and served in the U.S. Navy. I've been shot 3 times, and stabbed twice. I'm an NRA certified police firearms instructor, and an ex weight lifter. In 43 years of riding I have owned 26 different bikes. I currently ride a Harley Davidson "Peace officers" special edition Ultra, which is my 5th Harley in a row. I consider myself to be a liberal conservative ( if you have to ask, you won't understand) I believe in God, but you can worship a turnip if you want too. Just don't try to tell me I have too. I'm proud to be an American, and I don't believe in big government. My family has served in every war ( even those nasty "police actions") and many of them did not return. I am also a Patriot Guard Rider and belong to a motorcycle club with 500 members. I'm the worlds biggest flirt and I think a beautiful woman is like a work of art, To be cherished and admired. Just ask my wife of 25 years. My motto is "Carpe Cerevisia" (sieze the beer).

  • what is the best end of civilization vehicle or mode of transportation?

ok, so you have your food supply, your means of protection etc etc for that "just in case" scenario. No, here is my question: What if you are at home, and your loved ones are at school, work etc and let's say, the predicted solar flares occur, and it knocks out all the electronics, including phones, radio, tv AND the electronics in your vehicle. Suddenly, you cannot contact family or friends, and you know have to find a way to travel the required distances to pick up your kids at school, and your significant other, with a distance to be traveled round trip of 40 miles. OK, what is the mode of transportation you would have on hand, or want to complete the journey quickly and safely, and be able to carry yourself, 2 kids and a spouse? best answer gets full 10 points.

  • What are primers (if you can find them) selling for in your area?

My kids went to a local gun show today. they decided to be nice and pick me up some stuff. They bought a 1000 round box of federal large pistol mag primers and paid $65.00!!! ( I don't use them, but the thought was nice). They said they had some there for $120.00 per thousand!!!. Also found out they allowed local businesses to go in friday night before the show opened on saturday and buy up all the primers and powder. Talk about ripping off the public. so, anyway, what area are you in, and what are they selling for there?

Shoot safe (if you can afford the ammo)

  • So, now that Obama stated he WILL bring back the AWB...?

In a news conference Feb. 25th and 26th, the Obama administration has publicly and formally announced they will reinstate the assault weapons ban. This ban includes magazines over 10 rounds, several types of firearms, and we are waiting to see which other firearms he means when he says he will add more. He is also going after ammo, so it may be included in some form IE: military calibers etc And it will be permanent, no sunset clause like it had under the Clinton administration. So, do you still feel that those of us who predicted this before the election, and those who rushed out to buy AR and other types of semi auto firearms, magazines and ammo, after the election, were paranoid, or just realists who were a little smarter than the "sheeple" with their head in the sand? Are you still glad you voted"for change" without knowing exactly what change you were voting for? Don't just give thumbs up or down, I genuinely want to know your feelings now.

shoot safe (while it's still legal to do so)

  • Had you heard this, and what do you think?

the American Motorcycle association reported that the Oakland California police department has decided to equip each of it's 45 harley davidson motorcycles with after market exhaust systems. Most of the officers complained that they do not "feel safe" on the quiet new bikes. So the new exhaust systems are now rated at 93 decibels, well above the mandatory stock 80 decibels (federal limit) and illegal under California state law as well.

  • urgent help needed?

I have prepared a slide show of the services for a fallen american hero. This man fell in battle and was laid to rest recently. He was escorted by over 60 patriot guard riders. I am asking fo any input for a sound track to add to the slide show. It will be presented to his parents, wife, and a copy sent to his unit overseas. My hope is that it will help bring closure to those family, friends, and fellow soldiers who were so affected by his death. I am unhappy with the music I chose, and welcome any input from everyone. I ask that you respond quickly, but with respect. No stupid comments please. this is a very serious matter, and this man was a true hero and has earned our respect.

  • what do the gun grabbers say now?

An 80 year old was attacked in his home by bad guys forcing their way thru the front door, while beating and slashing him with knives. The ww2 Vet pulled a firearm and wounded one of the cowards, and drove them both off. When asked why he didn't kill them, he replied "I ran out of bullets".

First off, I applaud his actions. Second, this is a prime example of why a law abiding citizen should be able to own, and use a firearm for self defense. Without a firearm, this 80 year old, innocent victim, a man who served his country to help protect our freedoms, would be dead. One bad guy was hospitalized, both were caught. The victim's final words?? "they better not come back". Right on buddy!!!

Think it will be in the newspapers, or that a single hanky stomping gun grabber will admit that owning a firearm saved the mans life?? Don't bet on it.

  • ever notice how people react to answers on firearms?

I recently answered a question for a guy named Andy Greenwod about a lever action shotgun used in terminator. I explained that the metallurgy of chinese weapons was not up to US standards and that they could be cryogenically treated to make them stronger, to save space I never went into detail about what the process involved, and he tried to sound all knowing (gave an incorrect come back) and insulted my answer.I also pointed out that the shotgun used in terminator was cut down, and only held 3 rounds. I never said a word about what a standard full sized would hold. Again, insults from mr Greenwood. If people can't accept answers, or listen to another persons opinions without getting so rude and bent out of shape, maybe they shouldn't be asking questions, and if they go off that easy, maybe they shouldn't be around firearms at all. What's your take on the subject?

Below that is a large MN stamped in the barrel. on the tang area, behind the fixed rear site is a large scrolled M and the lower case le then "1842" then a large screw head then a scrolled (possibly) T. on the left side of the barrel opposite the nipple is an oval with a "M" and a small symbol over it inside the oval. • Does it scare the heck out of you to see how badly people spell?

I read through these posts each day, I am amazed and shocked to see that most of the younger people asking questions can not even spell correctly. I don't blame them, I blame the schools for pushing them through without teaching them correctly, and their parents for not putting their foot down and getting the kids the extra help to learn the right way. Why are these kids having to ask questions about sex, wondering how they got pregnant, relationships and the real world here instead of getting the proper answers at home? And then to see how many use this area to post racist or pornographic innuendos is appalling. What happened to common sense or respect for others? Why does Yahoo block people who ask real questions or give real answers, but seem to overlook and allow this kind of trash to get posted?
