If you go to a store such as home depot or lowes, they sell touch up pens in the paint isles. It is basically like a tube witha brush on the end filled with stain. Get the Maple colored stain, and brush it on. I would first do a color test on the bottom of the table to ensure the colors match.

If this fails, you will have to refinish the whole table. Its really not that hard, but it is smelly and time consuming. Or, you could take it toa furniture store and get it redone for like a hundred bucks.

There a number of home cures and professional remedies.

I do these regularly in my business and have never had to strip the top and start over. Usually 5-20 minutes depending upon the size and severity and it's taken care of.

Cigarette ash mixed into a paste with olive oil, leave on mark over night and polish off in the morning. Don't know why it works but it does.

get white toothpaste. not the gel or coloured kind. Cover the stain with it and leave for 15 minutes and polish it off.

    that should take it off.
