If on Social Security can one go back to work and defer SSI?

My mother in law is turning 62. She is unsure if she wants to collect now or at 65 and collect $500 more. We worked the numbers and the break even age would be around 72 years old.

But if she were to collect now at 62 could she change her mind and stop collecting if she were to find another job. Then start to collect at 65?

    Yes, this can actually be done. I heard about it once on the radio. But you have to pay back what you've received in benefits so far.
