Catholics Only?
-What is your faith based on?
-What do you feel about your obedience to God's word (are you doing it or not)?
FYI - I am Catholic and I do respect others people beliefs + point of views. I attended to one of my very best friend's 'Bible reading night', she is Christian and these two questions were asked to me right after the reading.
Can you please give me your point of views. Thank you.
Thank you all for your responses. They all nice and I do respect your point of views.
Thank you Wolfie
Wow. You all have good answers and I really appreciate them all. I wasn't looking for the best or worse, I was looking for your point of views.
Thank you all.

My faith is based on Jesus Christ. I believe that he died for my sins, he rose from the dead and will come again in glory.
I believe in obedience to God's word as does the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church came before the New Testament was written or canonized. According to the scriptures, not everything was written down. Additionally, no where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only authority. "Sola Scriptura" which is what Bible churches depend on, cannot be supported by the Bible...strangely enough. They claim the Catholic Church does not follow the Bible, and yet the very criteria they use is not biblical.

If you are looking for a best answer Misty's answer is the Best! I am Catholic, and I completely concur with what she said. I believe in Jesus Christ, who was born as a human, lived and taught us how to live by his own life and died a brutal death on the Cross for all the sins of men. Without the Catholic Church we would not have "The Good Book" so yes I do live my life by the Word of the Most High. The Catholic Faith/Church is based on Christ's life, death and resurrection I could be a part of no other faith or church because my Church completely fulfils the Word of God.
EDIT--Shabayou great answer, I loved it.

I do agree with Kate; Misty deserves Best Answer.
Myself; My faith is a "Gift" received from the Holy Spirit. The gift of knowing Jesus is real and lives.
As for my obedience: I am all but Too Human. It is a constant struggle for me. I trust my church (Catholic) to help me understand how to be a better example.
I left the Catholic Church at one time in my life. I felt I could never be a "Good Catholic". I found it difficult. I returned, humbly. A lesson well learned. I learned I don't have to be a great theologian; I only need to serve to the best of my ability. Christ loves me as I am. I grew to respect the traditions. They deserve to be a part of our religious heritage. Our most sacred sacrament was taught to us by Christ himself. We are the True Church; built on the Rock. Peace be with you.

My faith is based on the church that Jesus founded
Jesus is the Word of God the bible are the words of god, jesus came to found his church not to write, now do not study with fundies they will lead you astray, as a catholic you should be leading the study and asking the question, you cant do this do not let them lead you.
Do not let fundies or any other protestants lead you, you should be leading and teaching them, they know nothign, you have it all. You are making a BIG mistake al the way around. have you been confirmed?

My faith is based on the evidence for Jesus Christ as it is presented in Scripture, the teachings of the Catholic Church, and sacred tradition. I can't point to one specific event or reason for my belief in Jesus as my Lord and Savior because my faith has been formed through years of trying to find out more about God, His love for us, and what He expects of me. My faith is the cumulative weight of all that I've seen, studied, and experienced of God's goodness, especially in the person of His Son.
Scripture is the basis for much of the way that I see the world. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I try to apply Scriptural principles to the decisions I make, both large and small. I don't always succeed, and I fall into sin, but God in His mercy has made a way for me to be cleansed and restored through the Sacrament of Reconcilation and Penance. So the short answer to your question is: "Yes, I obey Scripture to the best of my ability."
I'm going to offer a little unsolicited advice here about attending Bible readings/studies sponsored by Protestants. Many of them believe in the unscriptural doctrine of "Sola Scriptura" ("by Scripture alone"), but since each person interprets the Bible as they see fit, they can come up with some serious doctrinal errors. It's easy to let Protestant misconceptions creep into your own thinking, so I've found that it's best to study the Bible with fellow Catholics who are obedient to the teachings of Christ's true Church on earth.
God bless!

My faith is based on God. Sometimes I feel like I am doing God's word better than others. But I am human and make mistakes and have faults. I have the Catholic church to get closer to God and strengthen me through the Eucharist. We can get no closer to God on earth than to take the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist. It is a wonderful gift that Jesus left behind for us. No other church has this gift.

My Faith is based on Grace, Hope, Love... and I am sure I could be a better more obedient Catholic... but luckily I have oppertunities to pray and use the Sacrament of Confession etc. to help me along the way. We're human, we're sinners, we're imperfect, but luckily God gives us the tools to keep working on it.

My faith is based on the same answers you received from fellow Catholics, but also, the basic distinctions between the two views of the world (Catholic and non-Catholic) is that the Catholic worldview is grounded firmly in the reality and ramifications of the Incarnation.
God's universe, created perfect, is now broken -- but it is marbled with sanctification, especially since God Himself took on flesh.
Many brands of Protestantism, on the other hand, tend to see (or at least behave as though they see) matter as evil and man only as "utterly depraved," leading to a Puritanism that strips Christianity of its rich lushness and very humane-ness. The soul is seen as totally distinct from the body, the latter being a prison to the former and a hindrance in every way to the desire to become holy.
For Catholics, this dualism does not exist.
For Catholics, we are to put on Christ so that we can become divinized and share in His Sonship, becoming true heirs of the Father. In doing this, we work out our salvation in fear and trembling and assist one another, pray for one another, teach one another, and participate in the Sacramental life of Christ's Church. We are our brother's keeper... .
For many non-Catholic "Christians," it's just "the individual, the Bible, and Jesus," and, ignoring the question of where the Bible came from in the first place.
Next time your asked these questions, recite the Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God. Born of the Father before all ages. God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God. Begotten, not made: consubstantial with the Father; by Whom all things were made.
Who for us men and for our salvation, came down from Heaven: and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary: and was made man.
He was crucified also for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried. And on the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures. And He ascended into Heaven and sitteth at the right hand of the Father. And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead: of Whose kindgom there shall be no end.
And in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life: Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son. Who together with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified: Who spoke through the Prophets.
And in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
This is what your faith is based on.
Also, as has been mentioned, go to your Catholic Church bible stuedies.
There is a huge difference between the teaching authority of the Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and the "traditions of men" .

My faith is based on Christ.
I do my best to be obedient to God's word -- I think it's important -- but I admit that I fail from time to time.
