Fellow LDS! What are your FHE Plans?

Since it is Family Night, what are you all doing? I answered an earlier question and mentioned that we are having another family over for dinner and FHE. Just bar-b-quing hamburgers, having a little target practice with bows and arrows, and then I sneak in a lesson on hitting our goals in life. I mean, my audience here are a couple of teen age boys and our husbands, you know how much much they all LOVE FHE! NOT! LOLOLOLOL

I need a good song though......any suggestions? What are you doing?

Update:

AAWWW Gumby! that's so sweet!

Update 2:

elodie - whatever night works! It's all good. :)

Pink - I get you! that's why we invite other families over with kids still at home. With my youngest on a mission, FHE with just hubby and me didn't go over to well, it always ended up being a "chore" FHE. As in, "why don't you give me a lesson while you help me .......(fill in the blank, clean the garage, irrigate the pasture, put up fence......HA!)

Update 3:

Stace - 3 yr olds are SO FUN! You can do anything for a lesson. It's summer, read Nephi's scripture on faith, then plant a seed, something that will grow fast, let him tend it and watch it grow over the next few weeks. Morning Glory seeds grow fast, so do pumpkin. Have fun!

Me and my wife read from the conference issue of the Ensign every week.

But as for the treats? NO TREATS we are both so fat and out of shape its not funny. Carrot stick and celery are the norm.

(((((Pink))))) I never had FHE as a child and I was never there for my kids. They are all grown now, so I have a new goal in life to always have FHE even if its just the two of us.

That's a really good idea! We're not really sure what we're going to do. I'm in charge of the lesson, but I really don't know what kind of lessons to do for me, my hubby and my three year old stepson. He's here for the summer and I've been really struggling to include him in the FHE nights. So if anybody has any suggestions please let me know. I know that we're going to be making cookies for the activity, but I still haven't figured out what to do for the lesson. And a good song could be something like "Have I done any good in the world today?" or "Shall the youth of zion falter?" or my favorite "As Zion's Youth in Latter Days". Those are all fun ones. They don't really have too many goal oriented songs though.

  • If you're having a fun night, have the teenagers do Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes or Once There Was a Snowman. LOL I'd pay money to see that!

We're reviewing the talk by Dallin H. Oaks, "Good, Better, Best" at the request of our bishopric. Our ward has been asked to re-evaluate what we do as families in our spare time and decide if there's something better that could fill it's place. Like going to the temple or doing service instead of watching TV.

We gave my 6 year old a calling, she's our FHE teacher, so sometimes we're at her mercy; but if I get the floor then we'll be reading "there is safety in council" which was last months home teaching message by President Eyring.

The girls choose the songs, so probably Jesus wants me for a sunbeam from the sunbeam and another childrens song from the 6 year old.

For refreshments, I have no idea. We'll probably just open the candy cupboard and say have 3 things each.

    FHE as follows tonight:

    Lesson on being nice

    snack

Our kids are still really little so our lessons are usually only about 10 minutes. But we always open and close with a prayer.

Afterwards Mommy goes to scapbooking class!

I'm working late tonight, so we'll be doing FHE tomorrow. My kids are 3, 2, and 6 months...so our FHE amounts to showing our kids some pictures of and talking about the scripture stories (they are partial to the pictures of Noah's ark, the Garden of Eden, and Abinadi standing before King Noah...b/c of the animals of course).

Unfortunately I am working tonight, and I seriously doubt my husband will do FHE. We don't usually get them done on Monday nights. We try Sunday evenings because we are usually home, I kind of have a crazy work schedule.

I'm not even close to knowing yet. =)

I do have the treat though....yummy chocolate cake. But I still haven't decided what else we're doing. We had a really good lesson a couple weeks ago. My oldest (she's 6) taught about the missionaries and then my kids all drew pictures of them being member missionaries and we made cookies and took them to the missionaries. My kids loved it. My 4 year old has a bit of a crush on one of our missionaries so it was cute.

none - the only kid I still have at home goes to the "singles ward" and they have FHE. My husband is a massage therapist (hobby) and Monday is his night at "Massage Envy."

I will run errands tonight (e.g., Costco - we are out of laundry detergent).

With all the activities of the kids and kids leaving home, we haven't had FHE in many years. However, we always had "goodies" since that is really important!
