The room key, park admission and dinning plan are all on one key. There fore anyone staying in the same room can use the card to use credits for meals. Each time you use the card for dinning purposes you get a receipt that show how much the meal would have cost, how many snacks table meals and counter meals you have left. The only time you will have copies of finger prints will be made is when you enter each park. We wore lanyards with plastic card holders to carry our cards around our necks, the kids understood the one snack a day rule and we always met for meals. We have never had any problems with misuse or loss of benefits and have always used the dinning plan.

The card is the room key, and the park admission ticket and the credit card (if you choose to have charging privileges on it). All you have to do is when you go to a Disney restaurant tell them you are on the dining plan. At the end of the meal the server will take your card and take away some meal credits. If you have the base dining plan, you get one full service meal, one quick-service meal, and one snack. Full service is like a regular restaurant, and quick service is like a fast food place but they are nice at Disney. You should also know that at a full service meal some deserts and drinks are not included in the plan so you would have to charge it to your room with the same card, use a different card (debit or credit), or pay cash. Some full service restaurants use two credits instead of one so just check that before making reservations so you won't be left short by the end of your trip! About the finger print. If you are going to a park or a restaurant that is in a park people 10 and older have to swipe their finger as well as putting the card through the machine.

ok how it works is:
you have to stay at a disney resort hotel to purchase it.
your room key is your room key and its your ticket for the parks, and its also your dining card.
yes your mom could use yours one day.
all of the keys are linked together as far as the dining plan is concerned.
when you get food each person in your groupl could use their own card or just one person from your group could use one and it will be taken off of the computerized memory.
say there are 5 of you going:
all 5 of you could stand in line and give the cast member your own card and it will be deducted thru the computer
or
your mom could just use hers/or any one elses card and hand it to the cast member and everyones will be deducted using the computer.
each card contains the entire groups dining plan on it so when you get something to eat it will all be deducted. it works out correctly whether eveyone uses their own card or one person uses one card to get everyones food.
you don't need to show any identification.
and it is not finger printed for proof of id.
nothing like that it is just swiped like a credit card.

Here's a breakdown of the dining plan, along with cost summaries, etc:

To answer your specific question, technically yes, you could use her card, but you do have to sign and they could ask for ID.

You can share credits among the prople on the package--that is, not with someone who didn't buy it--and you can't swap child (<10yo) and adult credits around.
