For those who believe in some form of reincarnation?

You hear many people with past life experiences/memories. But there are many who claim to have been important figures from history, ie Joan of Ark, or Cleopatra. I've run into no fewer than 10 women who believe themselves to have been Cleopatra, seriously.

So here's my question. Is it possible for the soul to be divided? Is it possible that each of these people has some part of what made up that historical figure? Could I truly posess a part of Pernelle Flamel's soul, while some other individual in some other nation has another portion? I know this might seem crazy and illogical, but it would explain the redundancy.

PS I am also well aware that some of these claims are based on an individual's ego and desire to 'be' someone else. I do not believe myself to have been Pernelle, I just use it as an example only. I know that there is fraud out there as well, but since I already believe in reincarnation, I was just wondering if anyone else had thoughts on this. Thanks!

Blessings!

Update:

Zangmo: I didn't say I "knew" ten people... I said that I had "run into", either online or in person. I only "know" one other person who believes in reincarnation - I life in a very Christian area.

I've read about a couple of reincarnationists who insist that souls can be divided - in my experience these are people who believe they were celebrities in past lives...which seems to suggest that "divided souls" could be just an attempt to lay claim to a famous life that other people also claim as their own. Personally I believe "divided souls" is nonsense. It's totally contrary to the dynamic of reincarnation (personal development).

There are reasons why there are so many Cleopatras, I think. One, she puts a face on all Egyptian women in ancient times, something that a person might identify with if she was ever a woman in ancient Egypt. Another reason, millions of people have heard of Cleopatra, read about her, in their own past lives. Many lived around her time in history. In retrospect or foggy memory, they may know the name of Cleopatra better than their own names from back then.

Imagine how many Princess Dianas there will be in the decades and centuries to come. Diana touched millions of lives, and a few of us living now will be reborn with a faint "memory" or connection to her, and some will think, "Hey, maybe I was Diana..."

I had a very new age friend who believed in reincarnation. Her theory was that the afterlife, that limbo between incarnations, was a kind of cosmic blender. When you die, your soul gets mixed and matched with all the other souls who are between incarnations.

So a person living now could be a melange of many souls -- a shred of Cleopatra, a smidgen of Ogg the caveman who discovered fire, a touch of Marcel Marceau, a bit of Lao Tse, a soupcon of an Inuit woman who lived and died in the 1600s, 1 and a half teaspoons of your Aunt Chlotilde.

It's a very interesting theory. I have problems believing it is fact, mainly because there is no proof, but it is fun to think about.

Maybe schizophrenics are part Attila the Hun or Vlad the Impaler, and part Gandhi or Mother Teresa. Can you imagine a person who was half Rudolf Hess and half W. Churchill? Poor dude!

You said the soul gets divided?

When we die people say the soul leaves the body and goes away! But it is all so different so let me explain! These things can be explained by an example!Use your imagination, pl!

Let us consider that our bodies are bottles dunked in the ocean of the super soul. What happens is that when we die the bottle cracks and the water from inside gets mixed with that from the great ocean. Can you at that point say that this is that water which was in that bottle! Later a new container is formed which will hold some remnants of the old bottle but most of it has dissipated and other ones are getting formed too so can't it be possible to have the soul of that one person in a couple of more containers?

So it is possible to have several Flamels existing at one time with a remnant of that memory!!!

It depends on the beliefs. There are beliefs where this would be the case, where the soul becomes part of a whole after death, then splits off again. The genetic or racial memory theories of reincarnation could also account for such a case. Generally though it's people who want a special life as a past life, seeking attention.

I believe in reincarnation through a series of dreams I had in my teenage years. I felt (and still do feel) that I was remembering a past life. I have no idea who he was, only that he lived on a high mountainous plain and he dressed in cotton shirt, waistcoat and trouser style clothing. He also died violently.

I'm Wiccan. It's predominant that I first state what I, in my view, consider occurs once we die. In my consider method, there is not any heaven or hell, however a position in which all souls move to leisure for a interval till it is time to be reincarnated. Fellow Wiccan's name this position The Summerlands. I name it Summerland. I consider there may be one in every of 2 matters that occur to an fetus. a million.) It is painlessly (fetus' should not have the mind progress to differentiate agony) "positioned again" into Summerland, till the time comes for the soul to be reincarnated. two.) Depending on how ancient and shrewd the soul was once, it both is going again to reside, or it turns into natural power. Thus, fitting aside of the universe and the whole lot in it. Note: I did make a political factor above. This is handiest my private, liberal, political view. I'm professional-option. My perspectives will have to now not, nevertheless, think of the ones of the identical faith as myself. It is solely a private stance, now not a collective one.

Reincarnation is a fact and it continues till the effort is made to get out from the cycle of briths.(by becoming One With God)Reincarnation is one soul only and not a part.A soul cannot be split into parts.Sometimes, the imagination of people goes amuk and they 'really believe' to be the reincarnate of a person. They may immitate the words, dress, mannerism etc.I think this explains why many women claim of being Cleopatra. Some can be fraud too seeking cheap publicity.

Claims of being famous are just fantasies. I have believed in reincarnation for years & have no idea who I was - male, female, rich poor, famous, Egyptian, Chinese, Brazilian etc.

Only one "soul" exists in a body at once- so no- 10 people couldn't be Cleopatra (and if you know 10 people who think they were Cleopatra, there must be about 10,000 people who think they were Cleopatra).

I do believe in past life regression/hypnosis type things, but I don't know how important it is for me today to know who I was in the past. I am only worried about the future of my soul.

I am a Buddhist and I do believe in reincarnation.

As a Buddhist we do not believe in a "soul." We believe that karma is what "moves" onto the next life, and determines your next life condition. Is it possible that you can be reborn into more than one life form? Yes.

Think of a teacup filled with tea. Much like the teacup is a vessel for the tea, your body is the vessel your karmic energy resides in in this incarnation.

If the teacup breaks on the table and the tea flows out, more than likely it is not in just one puddle on the table. If it flows off the table, many times it will create several puddles of tea. In this sense, the karmic energy of a living being can be "split" into several life forms.

    You cannot be separated.

Of all the people in the world, the likeliness of any of us being Cleopatra is less that winning a billion dollars in a lottery.

This is ego, and it is unlikely also that one can remember their past life...that is perception.

Why do women always think they were Cleopatra? Do they not realize the high possibility that they were men in that era?

Reincarnation is a silly little tale for people like Hindus but not for us Christians.
