Transitioning from regular clothes into maternity clothes...?
I'm 14 weeks along and not really showing. Although I haven't gained any weight yet, I'm starting to feel a little 'inflated', and my stomach isn't flat like it was. Some of my clothes are becoming a little uncomfortable. Since this is my first pregnancy, I don't really know what to expect as far as how slowly or quickly my body will change. I'm petite and athletic, and my clothes that are feeling a little snug aren't feeling snug everywhere - just in the chest and in the waist. I'm hesitant to buy normal clothes a size or two bigger because the proportions are not quite right - too long, too big everywhere besides waist and chest, neckline too low, arm holes too big, all that... However, I don't need actual maternity clothes yet.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this in-between period? Are there any cool stretchy gadgets that can extend the usability of regular clothes?

I'm not sure what you can do for shirts, but i can tell you what I did with pants. At first, I put a hair tie around my jeans button, and through the loop whole. That worked for quite a while. I'm a tiny person, so I couldn't find maternity pants to fit me anywhere but the waist. There is something called a "bella band" that you can put around the waist of your regular pants. It's like the stretchy part of maternity pants. That way you can wear your pants undone, with that over it. I have also found a couple of items on the motherhood maternity website (www.motherhood.com)

I am almost in the same spot as you.
I have heard wonderful things about the Bella Band. On my pregrancy support group everyone swears by it.
So what exactly is a Bella Band?
The Bella Band is a seamless knit band you wear at your waistline, over your unbuttoned pre-pregnancy pants, over slightly big maternity pants, or around the waistband of any maternity style that falls down around your hips. The Bella Band holds your pants up, disguising bulky unfastened closures or excessive fabric creating a smooth belly surface. Now, no one has to know your pants are undone or loose.
If you’re in your first or early second trimester, you’ll love being able to wear you favorite pre-pregnant clothes longer. Just put them on without buttoning the top and let the Bella Band conceal everything – no one will ever know a thing!

I'm 29 weeks and haven't had to wear any maternity clothes as of yet either. My jeans still fit perfectly. I think the jeans thing is due to the fact I'm carrying a little high. I just stick with wearing my lose fitting shirts for now.

Just because you don't need maternity clothes yet doesn't mean you can't wear them. They flatter and put them emphasis on the stomach. They say "I'm pregnant" where as the next size of clothes says "I'm bloated and things don't fit right". Maternity clothes are meant to grow with you. They look good at 14 weeks and they will still fit at 40.

some really stretchy comfy pants and short. You said you are athletic you can find pants with draw strings, and once your belly gets really big they should rest comfotably right under your belly. I had a pair of old navy jogging pants and wore them pre pregnancy, all the way through pregnancy, right after birth and now 11 months later.

go into a maternity store and browse around. They have pants that have a small stretch band that goes around so that when your pants just arent fitting as comfy you want you get that extra room just where you need it. ask the sales ladies, they know. good luck.
