Good Beginner Bow?
I was wondering what a good beginner bow would be for someone who has done a small amount of archery in the past is 16 ,6'2, and pretty strong. I was looking to do target practice and maybe a little hunting. I dont care if it is a compound bow or a recurve bow.

It all depends on how far do you want to go, and your budget. If you want to go all the way to the top of the world ranking, I would suggest you start slow and get a light recurve bow that is not suitable for hunting. This way you build a nice solid foundation with your form. But if your shooting is purely for recreational purposes and for hunting, you can start a bit heavier and you'll be fine.
The Bullseye from Internature is a cheap takedown recurve available with low poundage limbs. The only complain I have for this bow is that the stabilizer bushing on it is rather crappy and will pop out on you. The bow do max out at 30# if I'm not mistaken and hence illegal for hunting in most states.
The Martin X-200 is a very popular entry level recurve. It is about 3 times the price of the Bullseye above. It's available in poundage you can use for hunting. However it is a one piece bow, and has no fittings for sights.
The PSE Nova as the other answerer suggested is a good entry level compound bow. PSE makes decent compound bows, but rather lacking in the recurve department.

I like the PSE bows (they now own Browning too) They are a reasonably priced quality bow, they make both target and hunting bows. I use a Nova (left hand) My cousin has the "Deer Hunter", my husband shoots the Vengeance and my son uses the Bandit. Everyone but my son has killed a deer and turkey, the secrect is practice, practice, practice with well tuned bow.

well.I've hunted with a Bear Super Kodiak(recurve) for about l0 years..like it a lot..55# draw,so not anything that l6 yr.old brute you mentioned can't handle....like someone said though, PRACTICE!....My experience with compounds is very limited, I've done traditional bowhunting and shoot instinct...A friend has a Martin and loves it...Another has one of the later model PSE recurves and is working out with it now..seems to like it... good luck!
