Astrology TWIN Skepticism?

Good question Arch...I don't know the correct answer, but I can tell you my opinion.

I would say that psychology, free will, and life play just as much of a role as astrology. We're all different, and we are all who we choose to be. Astrology is a tool not a rule, and cannot completely classify your behavior, nor can it completely predict how an individual will behave. We may have certain traits, but there is no way to prove that it is 100 percent accurate...I love astrology, and it can be amazing how accurate it is, but then there are the little details that sometimes just become so tedious that the stars begin to lose their meaning. I feel that we will not always embody every quality of the signs we have, and sometimes one person may lean to certain qualities more than another...And it is rare that twins are born seconds apart. A minute between can make a difference...But regardless, we are all still individuals, and we are who we are, no matter what the stars tell us. I believe that we should use the knowledge we gain from astrology as a guideline, but ultimately we should take it within context, and not always word for word.

I love all the smart people who have answered so far, their knowledge and opinions are pretty much spot on as far as I'm concerned.

The first point about the time between twin births is a big one, everyone who mentioned it's not usually seconds is correct. I have heard of cases where it's close to an hour between the two. And like they said, minutes can even make a difference.

There are so many ways you can go with the signs and placements you have. Like someone mentioned, one might lean more towards more of the positive traits while the other leans towards the negative traits. Some twins I have known have had similar interests and at least were involved in the same vein of things while others sets of twins tried to involve themselves in something other than their twin was involved in. Usually during their teen years is when they try to find and establish their own identity separate from their twin. Then a lot of times they tend to do the same things when they are adults (same types of jobs, live in the same area, have the same hobbies, etc.).

Like others have said, I agree about the psychology and the environment. Sometimes certain children get favorable treatment over others, even identical twins.

But what I have found is that twins usually think the same way and process information the same way (Mercury, this is why they are able to communicate with each other so easily and telepathically even) and they seem to go for the same kind of men/women in relationships. I've heard stories of twins marrying people with the same first name and such. And when their Moon signs are the same they tend to understand each other so deeply it's easy to see how having very similar charts can atest to this.

But like myself and others have said, there are so many options of traits in one sign, for example both twins' Suns are in Taurus. One can be very lazy and indulgent while the other is very focus and determined, hardworking and accomplishing things all the time. Astrology is only an influence, as someone said, a tool and with some the influence is very strong while with others it is weaker and other factors affect them more strongly.

This is a GREAT question, though, and I bet many people wonder about it!

The thing is that skepticism is not always healthy if also used dogmatically. If a person refuses to understand or try to understand a new way of thinking, he has limited his mind from a broader way of life. Both should be used in moderation. I have found that astrology has been on point with how I see my behavior and how others have seen me. It has been legit when pointing out talents and skills that I might be able to use. When I have used them I have realized they work better with my personality and career choices. Everyone is different of course. I don't use astrology to make my life on EVERYTHING. I look at astrology to compare it to how my life already is. Of course even people who are skeptical must do enough research on the subject before making unreasonable judgments. Its like arguing about politics and not knowing enough about the subject. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with questioning something. This allows us to have have sound judgment so that we will not fall gullible to traps that could hinder us or mess us up for the rest of our lives. But everything in the world is up for skepticism: from the clothes we where, to the foods we eat. How do you know you are talking to a human and not an alien? It could be questionable. :) Maybe thats just me, but I trust no one and nothing to the fullest. I hate to sound negative but it is true. At the same time, I can open my mind to other people's way of thinking and utilize different methods to better my life. Every person is different I guess.

In large city hospitals there are "time twins". These are children that are born at the same time and place but to different parents. This happens enough to be the subject of testing and this has been done. To read about this, start at page 13 of the PDF link below.

Rarely, are twins born seconds apart; it is more like at least 5 minutes apart. I should know being an old L&D nurse in a busy county hospital for many years, 5 - 15 minutes can sometimes make a big difference in terms of a natal blueprint. Also, if they are fraternal twins and are different gender, that can also make a big difference. However, I think you will find that, in general, twins are more alike than not alike when it comes to personalities, and the differences are usually in the small details.

Typically, twins aren't born quite "seconds" apart, there's usually more of a time gap than that, so ascendant and even moon placements can be different (even slightly) making aspects to ascendant and moon within the birthchart different as well. When you think about how strong an influence the rising sign and moon sign are in the birthchart, then it becomes easier to understand how the personalities of the twins can be so different sometimes.

Like Kelly already said, twins sometimes are very different. I believe a lot of it is wanting to be different, wanting to distinguish yourself from your identical other. The human will is more powerful then anything else and we are capable of a lot just by setting our mind to it. But when you think about it twins, even though they might act differently and have different priorities exhibit the same train of though and are able to understand each other without speaking a word. They do posses the same personality traits and have similar tastes.

i think they do have the same personalities but they work hard to be different, you know we all are individuals we need our own and unique space... and we got freedom to do what we want, to dress like we want so of course twins will be different but their nature will be similar....

ex: gemini twins.... one can develop more negative traits and the other the positive ones both with the desire of being special and unique... people would say ohh they are so different one is very gossipy and two faced and the other is very logical and intelligent... both gemini traits...

One of my good friends is a Twin and a Gemini. Her Twin is totally opposite. It is rather interesting. However, they do completely understand each other.

I agree with rachstar. Astrology does not determine anything, but is only potential. Genetics, psychology, free will, experiences etc. play the major part.
