How do you quiet a loud mind?

My mind is always going. Scattered though. I think about trying to sleep if I wake up and when will my alarm go off? I wonder when I will be discovered to be a fraud....it just won't stop! I even tried relaxation and visualization techniques NUMEROUS times and am constantly distracted. aaahh

    I had always had this problem all my life, about the sleep and paranoid about things inside. I think it is insecurity and lack of confidence and lack of faith.

    I suggest three things:

    -outdoor (strenuous) exercise to use your energy and boost confidence.

    -utter self acceptance. Allow yourself to be late and lazy and to speak the truth bluntly to people. You will see that it's not that big of a deal to be everything that you thought you shouldn't be. Stop living in limitations. Do things because of positive desires, not guilt. If you let go all mental control. You'll see you actually won't be a slob, you'll simply be a happier person, cus you do things according to what you REALLY believe and think.

    -Finally and most importantly. Don't be a fraud. That way you won't be discovered to be one. The reason you may be a fraud is perhaps you were raised to keep secretes or told you must present a certain manner or front or never say things they way they happened. A lot of parents raised their kids that way. Another reason could be that you feel that if you really acted like yourself people won't like you. Well, there's two things wrong with that. One, you place other people above and beyond God. And second, you think you are not good enough or loved. Well, guess what?

    That's a evil lie that's been told to you. Everyone is loved the way they are, by our Father in heaven, and honestly no one is as lovely as you think they are. But it's not important!

    Cus we don't have to be perfect in order to live in peace.

    Just practice being yourself at the cost of others not liking you. Keep doing it no matter what. Then when you are fully yourself and loving it, then turn to God and asks him what sins you need to repent. Then work on those things.

    The point I am trying to say is " Don't do things out of fear of others, do things out of your active desire to please God."

    People are not worth pleasing. Only God is. And when you learn to love God FIRST, you will naturally love people, because He loves them!

    Meditation takes a long time to accomplish. It has taken me 2 months just to get to a five minute quiet mind zone. It takes constant practice.

    A simple practice is just to listen to your breathing. In and out. Find a steady pace and count them. In for 5 seconds out for 5 seconds. Find one that is comfortable for you. Keep it up and you will be richly rewarded.

    That is my only recommendation.

    I think there is a possibility of ADD.

    One thing you can do is lay down and say to yourself "I'm not going to let myself think", then clear your mind. It will work for about 5 seconds and the noise comes back in, and when it starts say it again "No Thinking", and it stops for about 10 seconds and starts back in and you say "No Thinking"

    I repeat this for about 20 minutes and then my mind stops racing. It's hard to do at first but if you stick with it you should be able to silence your mind from racing thoughts.

    Utilize your scattered thoughts and use your loud mind to your advantage. Think of something that needs to be thought and think it, eventually you will go to sleep sometimes when you do its to late though.

    EMBRACE. I share my loud opinions, thoughts, and ideas. Everyone loves it. People say its what makes me, me! Discovered to be a fraud? The sleeping thing is horrible I can't sleep when I think about going to sleep.

    i have a loud ming too but i dont try to quiet it ,it keeps life interesting

    use it to your advantage. My mind shouts at me with ideas. And I write them down as stroies. Find a creative outlet for your mind

    I find listening to white noise to aid in relaxation/meditation.

    Try looking to in NLP "Neuro-linguistic programming" its how your Subconscious and conscious mind communicate to one another and how to controll it. It's pretty deep ****! It changed my life!

    me too! i was always told i think too much. how utterly impossible. certain things can be over thought, but the brain is what it is. dont discourage it. its when you find more than one is when i would be concerned!!lol

    yoga is another option.oh yeah, u dont always have to say what your thinking. that one helped me.
