Can you watch this video clip and still try to say that Derek Jeter has no range?
And Jeter makes plays like this all the time.

It was a nice heads up play. But A-Rod was playing well off the line, that was the shortsop's ball all the way. It was a good stop and a great throw, but Jeter moved 4 steps to his right for a not that hard hit ball, doesn't exactly say hitting a ball anywhere near him is an instant out. I was more impressed with his throw. Very nicely done, he didn't have time to plant and set, through across his body and managed to get the lead runner at 2nd. That was nice, makes me wonder what the base runner was thinking, if he took off on contact, he was either very slow, or not hustling. Not to take anything away from Jeter, he did his job and got the out. I could say that every single short stop should have made that stop, but that throw took some talent and some smart defensive baseball.

You can take any player, regardless of who they are and witness a great play.
People don't say he has 0 range, it's just below average. Stats back it up and if you only ever watch one team, you may not even realize it.
My brother has the MLB package at home and may watch parts of 5 or 6 games a night.
He's commented on John MacDonald, Omaz Vizquel, Jhonny Peralta, raves about Bobby Crosby and he's seen many a hit into left because Jeter wasn't positioned well enough for his range.

I've seen a lot of great clips for Jeter. One that sticks out in my mind is the one where he just hurls himself into the stands and comes up with the foul ball. Even so, the statistics do not lie. Guys who are even bigger nerds than I am have a pretty solid method for measuring who gets to the most balls within their fielding area and Jeter simply is not one of the better shortstops in that category. Tulo over in Colorado is one guy who is a vacuum at his position- granted he's struggled offensively this season, but he has the range.

i heard that too at the same time as i grew to become into looking on the sport. i trust you, i will see why he could rip manny and arod, yet not derek. jeter performs to win, he's a type act, and by no skill gets into difficulty. to tell sons and daughters in little league to not stick to in jeters footsteps could be between the dumbest issues I even have ever heard. i think of everybody is merely jealous of jeter. final year he grew to become into voted the main puffed up participant in baseball, meanwhile he's a popular pollcorridor of famer with 4 ws rings (and counting) and can finally end up by using fact the final shortstop to ever stay
