What do you think of the Louisiana legislator introducing a law to castrate sex offenders?

The governor of Louisiana explained that the law would make it optional for a judge to order castration for a first time sex offender; but it would be mandatory for a second conviction. I'm not sure about the first time because there are a significant number of innocent people convicted of crimes; but the second time I really wouldn't have a problem with. I guess Louisiana is furious that the option of the death penalty was taken away from them.

Update:

Don't doctors perform the death penalty? Louisiana is still keeping their minimum prison sentences for sex offenders.

Update 2:

People don't get any money when they are on death row for 15 years and then freed because they are found to be innocent.

I think this is a very good idea and support it only after a person has been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt and full DNA test have been done. Anyone that kills and hurts children in that manner deserve everything that happens to them. speciall in cases of murder. They should also get the death penalty. People who commit those crimes do not deserve to live and do not deserve mercy do to the fact that they had none with their victims!

Yee Haa Boys and Girls, Lets crack out the burning crosses and roast some hog!

Seriously, what possible end could that achieve other thasn making YOU (The Great American public) feel better. The victims will still be traumatised or dead, families will still be shattered and broken, and wait for it, it will NOT stop it happening. Just because a sex offender loses the physical ability, doesn't mean he don't get the urge! He does,a nd this will lead to frustration, anger and some horrific assaults (details to be imagined), thankfully we do not have the death penalty, and i hope we never do. There is no punishment big enough to satisfy the family of an abused or murdered child, only time and the right therapy can help, so instead of pouring dollrs into castration programmes, focus them on the families and children affected. let the criminals rot in prison, whilst the victims reap the attention and money previously afforded on the perpetrators of these horrific crimes.

    Just a thought!

There are not any respected analyze showing the recidivisim fee you stated. Your question/survey is predicated an a lie and so the outcomes propose not something. you apart from mght fail to define "intercourse criminal." it ought to comprise the dude who pees interior the alley at the back of a bar and it may exclude the viscious man or woman who shoves a lager bottle up the *** of somebody. while you're asking approximately castration quite of alternative remedies, then you definately're a fool for even asking. in case you asking approximately it besides to different punishments, then it ought to have a constrained place interior the international.

I think its a terrible idea - the majority of sex crimes are about power, not sex - its about control and dominance. Lets face it, if you just want to get laid, you can do it for $20 in any red light district...

If they castrate the offenders, then the only way for them to possess and control their victims will be by much worse things, like death or mutilation. Sex crimes go down, serial killings go up...

Also - whats the payout going to be when they do it to someone who is later proven beyond all doubt to be innocent.

person: "Yes your honour, they have stopped my entire family line forever - I would like 3 billion dollars"

    judge: "Ok."

Lousiana: "****, we have to close all our schools now.."

    Clever.

Also, just thought - doctors take an oath to "do no harm" - so any doctor that does this risks being struck off.

First, ask yourself . . why do men rape women? ? Because they hate women in general ? ? ? Then Castration isn't the answer . . .He would then just become a murder like Jack the Ripper . . . .Castration on a first offense ? ? ? not here either, men have been released from prison after being found innocent when the woman lied . . .Castration sounds like a really good punishment , especially if the woman has a hand in it . . but I don't see this as stopping rape. . .
