Would it be tacky to have a diaper raffle for a baby shower?

Question

I'm throwing a baby shower for a friend and thought about including in the invitation something like, "There will be a gift basket raffle -- To enter the raffle, bring a package of diapers -- enter as many times as you like!"

But I thought maybe it was a little tacky considering everyone will already have to bring gifts (well, most likely), so I hate to ask for something else. But it's not like it's required to bring diapers, and I thought it would be a fun game, and a great way to get the mom-to-be more diapers! What do you think??

I think it's a good idea! When my brother got married we did a raffle, only it was for unwrapped household items (sandwich bags, foil, cleaning supplies) and it went over really well! They got tons of stuff and we gave out 5 prizes! Maybe you could do it for more than just diapers, give like 5 tickets for diapers, 1 or 2 for wipes, powder, bottle liners, and whatever else you would like. Then if someone doesn't have the extra money for diapers they can buy something that costs less! Just a thought!

They did that at my baby shower and everybody thought it was a really cute idea.  They could bring a package of diapers, a box of wipes or like a shampoo/baby wash combo and be entered into a raffle to win a prize.  The prizes we had were 2 baskets made up with different things....wine, bath salts...there are so many options.  

Plus every baby shower I've ever been to almost everybody brings a package of diapers anyways along with their gift.

No it's not tacky, I recently recieved a Baby Shower Invitation with the same raffle idea. I think it's a good idea, you can never have too many diapers either!!

I think that's a great idea.  It's not tacky at all.  It's not like it's your own shower that you're throwing and asking for diapers.  It's for your friend.  Go ahead and do it!

Eh, not really.  I don't think you have to do a raffle though.  For my baby shower, my friends asked everyone to give a book for my daughters bookshelf, as opposed to wishing well gifts.  You can ask to have your wishing well filled with diapers...

Lots of people already buy a package of diapers that go with the gift any way. And you didn't specify a type , so they can get whichever brand they like.

I'm going to a shower in a week and they're doing this. The shower is for a lady having twins. So, I think it's a good idea since she will need all she can get.

What a FANTASTIC idea!!  You can get small packages of diapers and I'm sure LOTS of people would love to win a gift basket!!!
