Poll: Are naked pics of a newborn OK?
After the birth of our son, my husband and I posted some pictures of him on a photo sharing site for our friends and relatives to see. A few of the pics were of him in his "birthday suit" just a minute after being born. We didn't think anything of it, but my mother-in-law is upset that everyone can see him naked. I've seen many similar pictures of newborns, so I thought we were pretty normal. Now I'm questioning it.
It's not like we're planning to take any more naked pictures of him as he grows older. But if one person has found it offensive, I wonder how many others would.

What, you were supposed to dress him in a 3-piece suit and patent-leather shoes the minute he was born?
Your MIL is being very silly. Babies come naked, and they're beautiful.

It's such a shame that she felt that way.
I really don't believe that there is anything at all wrong with a naked picture of a newborn babe.
I'm not a big one for naked pics once they're a few weeks old and above but a newborn baby? I see no problem.
Edit: Having read some other answers....I wouldn't post a pic of either of my children naked on the internet I would just crop their 'bits' out and then post it. The only reason I would do that is because I wouldn't feel comfortable not knowing who would be looking at it. I would have no issue at all showing the full monty version to my friends and family tho!

Personally, I've taken tons of naked pix of my boys. However, I don't think posting them on the internet for everyone to see is a good idea. There are some serious sickos out there. Now, if you're e-mailing them or using a private website where someone needs a password to get in, that might be better.

I would not have thought anything of it. this was posted for friends and family to see-not some website everyone can see-I highly doubt anyone else thought anything of it.
I have even seen people get their newborn babies photos professionally taken naked and they are so cute

Oh for God's sakes people need to get a life. It's just a baby!!! I have naked pics of all my babies and I think it's the cutest thing, especially their juicy round rumps. Your mother in law needs to get over it. Good grief.

Now that's just silly! Babies are born naked, and who can blame you for capturing that special moment! It's not like your posting naked pics of your husband! Tell her to chill out!

was she maybe more upset that they were posted on a photo sharing site where anyone could see? i can see that. perhaps you should make them password protcted?
otherwise, if she was just upset b/c they were naked pix of the baby, that is just her being uptight. we have pix of me as a baby with no clothes on in our family scrap books. i would say just about everyone i know has naked pics of their babies. i have one of mine as my screen saver on my cell phone (waist up).
like other people said, i would never let pix of his genitals be on the internet. there are too many sick people in the world and they all have internet access. BUT if they're for your enjoyment and you want to share them with your family, that is very common.

~I think it's completely normal to take pictures of your newborn baby naked!
That being said, if I post a pic of my lil guy on the internet I definitely crop it so his "parts" aren't showing... I'm just wierd like that.
I would not hesitate to show the "full pic" to relatives though!

Oh don't worry about it just because she is a little prude doesn't mean everyone else is. It's a baby for heavens sake if you feel uncomfortable about showing your sons "business" that's a different story.
