  • Temp agency or actual office on job application?

If I'm filling out a job application, do I use the temp agency I worked for in my "job history" or only the actual assigned job and supervisors at that location?

  • If I use my crockpot outside (in a cold climate) will it affect the cooking performance?

The reason I ask is that my husband wants me to cook some venison in the crockpot and I absolutely hate the smell of it cooking in the house. I'd like to just stick the whole thing out in our garage to cook, but I'm afraid the cold air out there will make the inside of the crockpot not get as hot as it needs to be. I'm not sure how insulated it is.

  • Can I use a dry-erase marker on my stainless steel fridge?

I don't see why not- there are stainless steel dry-erase boards and the surface of my fridge looks and feels exactly the same. If I try it and it leaves a stain, is there a product that would remove it?

  • Is there a certain time of year when most vacuum cleaners go on sale?

I'm trying to find a good deal on a Dyson. I know I've seen them on sale in the past...and Target once had a deal where if you bought one, you'd get a $100 gift card.

  • Need food suggestions for 1 year-old with allergies?

My son is allergic to the following: dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.), soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, and lentil.

He's still breast-feeding, but not for much longer (and it's mostly for comfort, not hunger). He is at the stage where he is self-feeding and prefers foods that are easy to pick up and pop into his mouth. I'm running out of ideas for things to give him for meals and snacks. He currently eats a lot of bread, cereal, crackers, apples, bananas, and cooked carrots, but doesn't seem interested in much else. I'd like to get a lot more variety in his diet and make sure we hit all the bases, nutrition-wise. Anyone have suggestions?

  • how can I clean a sisal rug?

I have a large sisal rug that has been spilled on cat-vomited on, and who knows what else. Trying to spot-clean the stains hasn't been productive. What should I do?

  • How do I transport my baby around NYC (or any other big city)?

We're thinking about our next vacation and want to take our 9 month old son. But we have never travelled far with him before. At home, we take him everywhere with our car or stroller. We have no clue how one would safely take a baby on public transportation like a subway or bus. Also, what do you do with a baby if you take a cab? Do we need to carry our car seat around with us everywhere?

  • What do you eat if you're a vegetarian, and find out you're allergic to dairy, soy, and peanuts?

I'm a vegetarian and my son is allergic to dairy and peanuts for sure, but may also be allergic to soy. Since I'm breastfeeding (he's 7 months), I can't eat the things he's allergic to. Going off dairy hasn't been too bad, but that's because I replaced a lot of things with soy products. Now if I can't eat soy, what does that leave me with? I'd love to hear from anyone else who deals with food allergies.

  • Is a "delivery charge" the same as a tip?

I ordered pizza from Papa John's tonight and there was a 2.00 delivery charge added to the total price of the pizza. I tipped the driver a small amount anyway, but I'd like to know for next time.

  • New vegan- need help?

I've been a vegetarian for years, but am following a vegan diet for a while due to my infant son's allergies. A few questions:

What can I find to eat when I go to restaurants and coffee shops with friends? I hate to just get coffee when everyone else is eating.

What are some good brands of cheese substitutes?

What can I use to bake with as a substitute for butter?

What are good snacks to pack along when traveling?

Any good websites I can go to for support?

    Thanks!

  • Infant with low muscle tone?

My 4 month-old son just had his check-up yesterday and the doctor was concerned with his low muscle tone. He doesn't hold his head up steadily at this point and he can't prop himself up on his arms when on his tummy. His social, thinking, and fine motor skills are all on target, however. We now have a referral for a physical therapist. I'm kind of freaking out. Have any other parents had this happen?

  • Sam's Club vs. Costco?

I'm thinking about joining either Sam's or Costco, but don't know which would be more useful to my family. I'd mostly be buying food products (especially fresh, organic produce) but I'm also interested in office supplies and environmentally friendly household/cleaning products.

What are some brands and products at these stores that people recommend?

I've eaten both, and seen recipes for both, and as far as I can tell, they're pretty much the same thing.

  • I need EASY, healthy meal and snack ideas while nursing my baby

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and nursing my 6 week-old baby. I have no time for cooking anymore and I've been gravitating toward carbs and junk food, especially when I'm up in the middle of the night. I need ideas for foods with little or no preparation and hopefully some protein and other nutrients.

  • What does it mean if my tires are "cupping"

Last time I took my car to my dealership for an oil change, I was informed that my tires should be replaced soon because they were "cupping." They said it wasn't a safety issue, but I should consider getting it done by the end of the summer. I took my car to a tire store, and the people there inspected them and said I still had a long time left on them, at least another year.

I don't know who to believe. My dealership doesn't sell tires or have an affiliation with a tire store, so it's not like they were trying to scam me into paying more.

  • What is the importance of swaddling a baby?

My 4 week old son seems to hate it when I try to swaddle him. He usually sleeps with his arms stretched out to the sides and I think he's comfortable that way. Is it important that I try to swaddle him anyway?

  • Poll: Are naked pics of a newborn OK?

After the birth of our son, my husband and I posted some pictures of him on a photo sharing site for our friends and relatives to see. A few of the pics were of him in his "birthday suit" just a minute after being born. We didn't think anything of it, but my mother-in-law is upset that everyone can see him naked. I've seen many similar pictures of newborns, so I thought we were pretty normal. Now I'm questioning it.

It's not like we're planning to take any more naked pictures of him as he grows older. But if one person has found it offensive, I wonder how many others would.
