Should we take our dog to the vet or is this not serious?
Our 1 year old boston terrier is a very active normal dog. He runs just fine, jumps up fine, doesn't look like he's ever uncomfortable walking or being generally active. However, a few weeks ago he tried to jump onto my lap when I was sitting on a table and he didn't jump high enough and fell back down onto the floor. He yelped when he hit the floor and wouldn't put any weight on his hind right leg for a few minutes, but then he started running around like normal again. My concern is that since then he's yelped a few times if we grab him just the wrong way and we don't know if its an injury or just the way we grab him. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Thank you everyone for the answers.

He is probably fine, however, if you are concerned, try putting slight pressure with your thumb and index finger from the bottom to the top of his leg and if he doesn't whimper or pull back he should be A-O-K, but if he does, try that place again just to make sure, -then- you may have a reason to be concerned.

Personally I would have your dog to the vet because that maybe have caused some minor injury but the dog does not feel the pain. I wouldn't worry to much this might of just been for a while then stopped to just check at the vet :D

Call and talk to your vet and see what they say. From now on discourage any and all jumping onto or off anything. He could seriously hurt himself the next time around.

Yea i would say take him to the vet atleast just for a check up. which usually ranges from $30-$60. It might just be the way you grab him bothering him because of his little ooowwwieee..lol.

Really, He is just fine. I have a dog just like yours and it's the same feeling for dogs as when you get a pulled muscle or bruse. It hurts for a while but the pain subsides and when someone touches the affected area it is still very tender.

In my opinion, you should probably take him to the vet, just in case it's something serious. Tell the vet on how he's behaving, or any actions. (For example the jumping on lap and falling back) The vet might have an answer for that.
Good Luck :]

He might have a small fracture and the best thing to do is see the vet and get a physical exam on him done to double check and an Xray to follow up on

If you are ever thinking about going to a vet, the best thing is to just go, better to be safe than sorry! If you can't, ringing them is always an option. He may have a hairline fracture or bruised bone, so I would check it out. :-)

If he looks TOTALLY normal now, just think of it as the equivalent to you stubbing your toe. It hurts like crap, but it is not deadly.
You'd look like a fool going to the doctor about a stubbed toe anyways (unless you broke it, but that's a different story).
