It's a reasonable offer, but don't expect to get it. There are dealers that will drop that much, but not on prime models that are in high demand. Contrary to Joe B's insightful misquote of current economic conditions, people who purchase new baggers from H-D are well above his standard of living and do not worry about paying an extra $50 per week to gas up their Suburban.

If you are willing to take a bike that might be a different color than what you wanted, or one that has been used as a demo or rental bike, then your chances of getting 10% off are much better. Otherwise, you're going to have to do some shopping, and possibly travel to another state to get the deal you want. There are plenty of large H-D dealers that will sell you the bike you want at the price you want, but you might have to fly to Florida or New York to pick it up. Email me if you need phone numbers of some sales managers who are willing to deal.

I would suggest first telling the HD Dealer you have narrowed it down to the Victory Vision and the Electra Glide and are going to check it out also. If you have not riden the Vision yet you should, Vic dealers allow test rides on all models. If you still have your heart set on the HD and the dealer hears you might buy a Victory you should expect to pay 12-15% below MSRP. How do I know this ? It worked for me @ Liberty HD but I still bought the Vic anyway its a better machine just check JD Powers reviews. The Vision blows the EG away

If you can get 10% off of MSRP. That is a great deal. Where are you geting a deal like that? I live in Houston and if you can find a Harley at MSRP you are lucky. In 2002 I paid 14% over MSRP. And had to drive 300 miles to pick it up, at that time they were 25% over MSRP in Houston Texas. And you were on a waiting list for the Road Kings.

My dealer sells all his bikes at MSRP, if you can get one for 10% less go for it. I just got a new 08 Street Glide in April, Love it. Don't pay any attention to Joe B., he's like the town clown, knows nothing about HDs but he's good for laughs. Try Zepka HD, they have a web site and the phone number is 814-262-7777. It's in Johnston, Pa.

Good luck with that. I was only able to get $300 off of MSRP on a $18,000 bike. Hell I was just happy to find the color I wanted. Anyone that thinks Harley's aren't selling well these days obviously hasn't tried buying one.

Great deal if you can get it. I can only comment on the HD dealer in my area. In the spring/summer the bikes sell for MSRP or higher, no negotiating. In the fall/winter they will negotiate price. If you buy a bike from a different dealer, although they won't tell you, you go to the bottom of the queue when it comes to service.

I bought a used 99 softail in a private sale. The local dealer made getting service on it a major hassle.

A good deal for you but bad for the dealer. Good luck in even finding a dealer who sells at msrp cost. Most don't cause they need make money on all sales just to cover the overhead costs.

buy year old one - they're giving them away. And, since the majority of Harley riders put about 400 miles a year on their bikes, it will be like new.
