What do you want to do with the laptop? Gaming? Reports? Graphics? Video editing? The highest priced Macbook is $1500 (in black) but you can get a real good one for $1300 (in white). These machines won't be able to play 3D games like WOW or run 3D programs like Maya, but it does everything else pretty well. Plus, you don't have to worry about viruses or spyware software, it comes with a built-in webcam, has support for printers and devices, and comes with a lot of free software (Garageband for making music, iWeb for websites, iPhoto for photo correction, management, and making books and calendars).
