What kind of rock is this?

There are rocks that are fairly common where I live in east central Pennyslvania, usually found in stream and creek beds. They are orange-pink, usually with lighter colored (almost white) veins. The appearance of the dry rocks is waxy or soapy, although the rocks seem to be very hard. While the rocks around them are smoothed and rounded by the water, these rocks usually retain squared or pointed edges.

I live in an area where the predominate stones are shale and slate, with some other types of sedimentary blue and brown stone. There is also a great deal of limestone and lime deposits around.
