What's the difference between the 10 commandment sins and all the other sins listed in the bible?

Update:

Why are they so special? "Don't rape or molest people" seems like it should have made the list

All sins are equal in god's eyes.

They are not really that special beyond the context of instruction. They were special to the Jews for a given period of time(now defunct).

The commandments that are special are these 2 that you and I live by under the covenant of Grace.

    Matthew 22

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Rape and molestation is in the ten commandments. Its just that the way it is explained you are not seeing the actual word. In the New Testament Jesus referred to the law when he emphasized that hatred is tantamount to murder...lust is tantamount to adultery. In the ten commandments it says, thou shalt not kill, thou shall not commit adultery...well, lust is when you want someone who does not belong to you...is that not what rape and molestation is? I also forgot to mention all of the other sins in the bible...Remember when Moses broke the tablet? Why was that? Because he was so angry over the sins of the Isralites...The ten commmandments was written because of the sins that were among the people in the bible

Commandments are not the same thing as sins. None of the "7 Deadly Sins" appear among thr "Ten Commandments".

If you were to always follow the 10 Commandments, then you won't be able to commit any other sin. All other sins lead to the Commandments.

It says in the Torah that the Ten Commandments were inscribed in stone by God as a covenant between Him and Israel. It was a beginning, but not the only law.

When God brought the Hebrews out of Egypt He could only begin to 'teach' them. This was the beginning of knowing Him. The sacrifice that Jesus made completed this. If you read Leviticus you can see where He continues this....He wanted them to seperate themselves from the world, and the 10 commandments was an overshadowing of this.....

Love thy neighbor as thyself.....this other thing you mentioned would fall under this.

there are only 7 & each of those are based on the commandments.

look at the commandments then look at the sins listed by Jesus & you will see it!

They just happened to be the first ones on the list, it was easier to enshrine 10 than to try carve them all on stone and carry around the lot.

The 10 Commandments is sort of like a summary.

But the GREATEST command is: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind and with all thy strength." And the second is like it, namely, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." All the rest of the law and the prophets rest on these two.

Paul summarized even these two down to one word, "Agape" (a greek word, pronounced "ah-gah-pay"), referring to God's infinite love. It means "Universal, unconcerned benevolence", that is to say, loving without concern for what you get back, without bias or prejudice.

Paul said that "love (Agape) is the fulfillment of the law, because if you love someone, you won't hurt them." whether that someone is God, or another person, or even yourself.

The TEN COMMANDMENTS were engraved in stone. The other 603 were not.

Christians only give lip service to the Ten, and ignore the rest.
