What would you do if your pastor allowed a sexual predator in your church?

my former pastor allowed a member back in with criminal charges against him as a fugitive on the run and never reported him nor did the pastor ever report him to authorities and kept this from the members of the church. someone else reported the predator who is now in jail waitng trial. pastor acts like nothing ever happened, remains silent to this day.

The Bible forbids favoritism, but this applies to someone who is financially well off verses someone who is poor. This is found in James chapter 2. However, a predator is a competely different story. No matter how we feel about someone based on their wealth and status, it shouldn't affect or threatened us personally. However, someone's criminal activity is totally different. The closest thing the Bible says about this subject, in my opinion, is to pray for your enemies. This is found in Matthew 5. The Bible doesn't say to put ourselves in harms way. I would suggest a solution. Have the former Pastor or someone who knows all the story of the fugitive offer this fugitive Bible study in his own home. I don't suggest that he be denied the Bible or Bible studies or even fellowship from someone who would like to visit him. But all activities should be done in the privacy of a controlled environment. I believe what the Pastor did was wrong. In 1st Timothy 3, verses 1 to 13, Paul gave us qualifications for an overseer or a Pastor. Specifically verses 2, 7, and 9.

2 That's why officials must have a good reputation...

7 Finally, they must be well-respected by people who are not followers.

9 And they must have a clear conscience...

A pastor that allows a fugitive with a violent record back into the church without at least notifying the members definetely would not have a good reputation, would not be well-respected, especially from those who are not followers, and if he does have a clear conscience, there is definetely something wrong with him.

Once there was a rule that a person can come into the church and be safe till he is proving guilty. Maybe your pastor still believes that. But the bible says we have to obey the law of the land so i think he did not do as the bible said. I would have to know more about the reason why he didn't report him. Its the laws job to find out if he is guilty or not. This is very puzzleling to me.Was the man a good friend of the pastor?

Why not open the question to every person who has any touch with infants. which contain mothers and dads, college instructors, and daycare companies? Sexual abuse is everywhere, so which you may decrease it to the clergy or different church leaders you're biased (yet why?). it quite is not a pragmatic question you're asking. If a individual is got here across responsible of the form of criminal offense via all means, use what you are able to to prosecute them to the fullest quantity, yet do not attempt to make a individual responsible while they have not been accused. it quite is incorrect and is going against what this united states stands for interior the way of their rights. I see th factors you're making. yet my element nevertheless stands. My infants are uncovered to different adults as nicely daily. My infants are certainly not left on my own with every person at church. the only time they are left on my own is while they pass to college. via your assertion, you're assuming that those human beings interior the church are the only ones who've sexual inclinations in the direction of infants. i think of if it quite is going to come to that, then each human who has touch with infants might desire to pass interior the path of the same attempting out.

Everyone has the right to go to Church. It's not up to me (or any pastor) to decide who can and can't come to Church. We all make mistakes, not just sexual predators.

well, i am not a church goer, but I think any person that would allow this to happen should also go to jail....isnt with holding information to the cops against the law?? I would call the cops if i were you!! I understand that the pastor has a duty to not say anything but he was letting a known criminal endanger the lives of others and this is not cool!!! tell me who it is and I will call the cops for you if you dont wanna do it!! or make a call and just dont say your name!!

Don't know the answer on the why he did what he did. Did you ask him why he remains silent and why he didn't report this man?

That isn't enough information for me to decide if your pastor is right or wrong, why not ask him?

I would seek that he be removed as Pastor or leave the church and find another one.

    well that's just wrong.

he should have told the congregation who was there around their kids.

if my preacher did that knowing that the guy was wanted I would leave that church.

I would have a hard time trusting the preacher after that.
