    Start a tradition...

My parents always go to this local fast food place...its what they do and like. (Like John Kerry and his wife go to Wendy's for their anniversary...how cute).

OOOhhh, I have an idea: travel to a different state...each year you can do this and for your 50th anniversary you can say you've been to all of the states...too cool huh.

Well I've heard that the one year anniversary is either paper or I've also hear that it's cotton, so a friend on mine made a photo blanket with their favorite photos throughout the year (even the wedding and some engagement photos) It is something that they have on their bed or living room couch and it looks beautiful, and she has had tons of compliments on it. (check out VisionBedding.com - that's where she got hers from) She put a really special quote on hers, but you could always put your anniversary or wedding date and names - whatever you want on it!

Then find a really cute way of giving it to him - like make him dinner and or go on a picnic...put the blanket with your pictures on the ground (don't worry they're machine washable) and open a good bottle of wine and talk and watch the sunset - things that this make really good memories that will last forever. It's really thoughtful and doesn't require much money just your time...

The traditional gift for 1st anniversaries is paper, so think of fun ways to incorporate that...tickets to a show, a sporting event, a theme park, etc. My husband and I worked together to plan a 4 day "get-away" to Niagara Falls, which is only about 4 hours from where we lived. We did everything online--booked our hotel, (the Courtyard by Mariott has great specials) and it was the most fun ever!

You may think this is kind of cheesy - my husband liked it... I have thought up different reasons why I appreciate my husband, then picked something that represented that quality. For example, if you like that your husband is romantic, attach a note to a candle that says "I've enjoyed your romancing me for one year of marriage... Thank you for being so romantic!"... This is only an example. :) Then put all of the items in a big decorated basket. Another thing that is fun to do is write him a message using the names of candy... For example: For my little {rolo}... Our marriage has been full of {snickers} and {payday}'s.... Nothing will ever come be {twix} us. Write the message on poster board, then put the candybar's on where the words would be. Also, it's sometimes nice to make coupons like "This coupon is good for a 15 minute backrub", etc. You could also "kidnap" him and take him somewhere you went when you were dating, or even take him back to where you got engaged and have a date. Have fun!

My husband and I have a tradition of something sexual for Anniversary gifts. It's always interesting, especially as the years go by and we have to get more and more creative.

Do a treasure hunt with clues that have memories of the two of you together and be waiting for him at the end with a gift! I did that and I think I had as much fun as my husband did. It really made him feel special. Good luck! I love romantic things like that! =)

Well the "traditional" one-year anniversary present is paper, and the "modern" one is clocks. Our one-year wedding anniversary is up in September, and I plan to get my husband a pocket watch. You know, one of the ones on a chain. It's very rustic. Men seem to like them.

For a paper idea -- how about tickets to his favorite concert? It doesn't actually have to be a piece of paper. You can get creative with it.

I listed a table below of each anniversary, how about tickets to something... Cruise, a event that BOTH of you would enjoy...

If he likes art....http://www.mydreamlines.com/ will sketch his suit and your wedding dress. Perfect one year anniversary gift, which is paper.
