Electricians: How much should I expect to pay for ......?
How much should I expect to pay for a new service cable? From an electric pole about 30 feet from a house. I need it inspected and need an Electrical Certificate.....
I have an appointment with an electrician this coming Friday. i want to be prepared with a price before hand.
The house is in Baltimore City, MD.
See http://www.myspace.com/flippinglatin for more details. You may have to "add" me in order to read the blogs about BGE.
Thanks!
More info: the tenants took the meter off the house and stole electricity from neighbors. I need to treat this like new construction....
Our local electric company (BGE) will hook me up with electricity, but I first have to have a contractor/electrician add that service cable. There already is one there... I think it needs to be replaced/upgraded.

Goto Lowes or some other home improvement store and prices of service entrance cable, get the cost per foot, and double it.This about how much your electrician should charge, plus a service fee.If this a 200amp service(which most houses are the wire size is 4/0 aluminum and 1/0 copper).Just ask for prices of service entrance cable in these two sizes.I don't have my space. sorry I hope this gives you a good estimate of what to expect.

I don't know about maryland, but usually the service from the pole to the house is covered by the local power company unless this is a new installation. Are you replacing temporary power with permanent? Was there damage to the cable? Need more info.
