November 1,2008 gasoline hits $6.29 per gallon?

Are you going to vote for any politician who says " NO " to drilling our own oil resourses and building new refineries?

Or are you going to wait another 35 years for alternative fuels?

Actually it will be a lot longer than 35 years before we can truly replace oil with alternative fuels. Increasing our domestic drilling is a no brainer, and anyone who doesn't see that is ignorant, or playing political games. It's true that it will take a while to bring that production online, but it will have a psychological affect first that will help to bring down prices. Besides if we don't start now we'll be wishing we had 8-10 years from now. I don't understand why people don't see that.

Shygirl: moveon.org is not a legitamate source to get information about oil production. That's where it sounds like you're getting your info. from.

Gasoline prices will go down just prior to the election.

    Then they will skyrocket again.

And I'm totally in favor of alternative fuels. Because conservatives tell me that there is no immediate fix. So I'd like to spend the time and money looking for something that will be a PERMANENT fix, as opposed to something that we'll have to re-examine in another ten years.

Just because the oil gets drilled here does not mean it will get sold here. And if we increase production, the companies which are making money from the skyrocketing oil prices will decrease THEIR production, because we've proven that we will pay whatever it takes for oil.

I'd rather be less dependent on it than be taken advantage of.

Only if Obama is elected. He's the one that has said he was going to take the profits from the oil companies and raise the tax on gas. If he gets his way, this country is sunk.

    McCain is the next president.

And tell me, how exactly would removing restrictions on oil drilling today effect oil prices in November? You do realize that if there any difference in supply it won't be for decades. You can't just make a profitable oil rig in a few months, and you are pretty naive if you honestly believe that removing regulation will drop oil prices in a few month or even a few years for that matter.

First of all, living here in Cali...gas is already $5 here in the Los Angeles County(I actually live 30 min. away from downtown los angeles, but withint in the los angeles county district). I live here in the valley, and gas is $5 per gallon, and at the rate it's going, yes gas will be at least $6. But we've BEEN getting oil in that stupid war, where we claimed oil in iraq ours, and i think in a way, that triggered the gas prices to go up. if we keep drilling more, i think the gas price won't really change, it'll, at the most, stay the same, or go up.
