Suppose the UN decreed 'Native Americans' had prior right to the land known as the USA?
...and that this claim was made on the basis of their ancient traditions, and then further decreed these people deserved a nation of their own to shield them from presecution, and that the area hitherto called the USA will now be theirs in perpetuity - how would you react?
Now ask yourself: Why do Palestinians react as they do?
I notice none of the contributors to this point have seriously addressed the question. To
dadvice 1 - "It's been 50 years now": The Palestinians might have said to the Jews in 1948 (60 years ago) "Well, it's been about 1900 years now, so why can't you just get over it and let us live in peace?"
As for the other answerers, I'm kind of disappointed nobody is following the logic of their responses to their conclusion.

It's a big country, I'm sure we could share it. In that case, the entire North and South American continents, not just the USA, would have to be given back to the natives. The Europeans colonized the whole new world. Dido with Australia. Native Americans and the other ethnic groups in this country are coexisting just fine. They even have their own reservations. That scenario would never happen in real life. If it did, everyone would fight against it.
Israel and Palestine is a somewhat different situation, although I admit there are some similarities. According to the Bible, God claimed that strip of land for the Israelites. After everything the Jews/Israelis have been through, why can't we just let them have their own little country.

It's been 50 years. It's not going back. The Palestinians can either move forward and make a good life for their children or continue to bear the burden of their terrorist ways.
I would prefer my children had the hope of a peaceful future.

The land was taken from Israel before it was taken from the Palestinians. Therefore it was Israel's land first. That's never taken into consideration.

It wouldn't matter, as we have more guns than they do.
Same situation as in Israel.
