Do you prefer Over the Hills And Far Away original or cover...?

I heard Nightwish's cover before I heard Gary Moore's original, but I can definitely say that Nightwish's cover surpasses the original.

GM's version is boring when compared to Nightwish's cover. Tarja does an excellent job illustrating the moral of the song, so too does the band in the instrumental break where they reinforce the seriousness of the issue being raised in the song. it just flows a lot better and is much more enjoyable to listen to.

Nightwish's version also adds more layers of instruments and increases the song's density and diversity.

Yes I agree, I heard the cover first and absolutely loved it. Then I listened to the original and ..... blegh. It seemed boring to me. (Plus I don't really like male singers).

I like the Nightwish cover because it just steps it up, it brings it to a new level. It gets my blood going! :)

I like te half dozen different versions I've heard.

And my favorite is either the Nightwish version, or the one form the BBC series "Sharpes Rifles"
