Government waste?

My son supported his girlfriend and his one year old daughter until recently when the US was hit so hard with raising gas prices etc... He makes only $10.00 an hour and they recently found out that his girlfriend possibly has cancer and the baby developed an eye condition that could leave her blind. Being he didn't have insurance and they were struggling, his girlfriend asked for temporary government assistance with food and health care. They informed her if she moved out of the home they would help her. The idea of breaking up a family in order to help them is ridiculous. Being desperate that is what she did. Now the government pays for her housing, utilities, food AND medical. How stupid is that? They are spending $1000's more for this. Wouldn't it have been smarter to give her temporary assistance while my son was trying to care for them? They are miserable, they hate living this way but this is the only way they can get help.

Update:

I might add that in spite of now having a medical card, most hospitals and doctors are turning them away because they don't accept it. What purpose did this serve?

Update 2:

To some who might not think my son is not 'owning up to his responsibilities' he is. They do plan to get married and he was working a second job. He is seeking better employment and also has full intentions of working a second job with that, whatever it takes. He pays child support and goes without food and clothes and pays bills late to make sure that his family has what the government is not providing at the current time. Doing that and having to worry about his family who is sick and lives in another place is doing a pretty good job. Especially since the economy is so bad and jobs are so scarce right now.

It definitely sends the wrong message. The government obviously condones single motherhood and broken families by spending money in this fashion. I guess that's why we see so many unwed mothers in the PJs that have five different kids by five different fathers; it means a bigger check every month. Your son's family, along with many families in the same situation, deserve better. Instead, congress is too busy trying to pass same sex marriage legislation to care about any kind of welfare reform to get the deadbeats out of the system. The ones suffering are the ones who really need it while those that are lazy and lack morals are reaping the benefits.

Wow isn't it terrible. I know they tell me I make too much money for assistance and I can barely afford to buy food. I am on disability and that isn't enough to live on and the Social Services people won't help me at all. You know most people live together anyway and just don't tell them, it makes you wonder if it would be just easier to lie like the rest of the people on Welfare. Sickening is what it is. Then you see people with 10 kids go down there driving a cadillac and they get benefits when the sick and elderly get nothing at all but a hard time and rude behavior from the Social Workers.

It has been like that for a while. If she worked in the past and payed any type of social security. I think she could have received temporary SSI. It is getting ridiculous. I had to go for a CT 2 weeks ago and was turned away because of my insurance. Everyone is have problems with health insurance and income. We didn't have these problems or nothing so severe as they are 4 years ago. We need help! Good Luck with Your Family!

The government does lots of weird things. Your Son will be getting billed for those "government services". Once they get all the info as far as paternity, they will be going after Child Support and pay-back of the money they are giving her. It takes a while, but it will happen. The governments thinking is that if he doesn't care enough about her and the child to marry her, why should they live together.

Your son needs to man up. He should marry his girlfriend, and find himself a better job. If he can't find one, join the army. That will pay the bills.

This might not be the dreams he had growing up. But since he was man enough to produce a baby, he needs to be man enough to do whatever it takes to pay the bills, instead of crying that the welfare state won't pay for his kids.

via fact if the investment replaced into all inner maximum the medical care would be astronomically priced in that for the period of basic terms wealthy can locate the money for to be cured (not that it concerns, our well being care equipment is in shambles besides). additionally, different international locations are turning out to be a techniques forward human beings in this. Japan in simple terms efficiently used stem cells to regrow kidneys in mice and we are arguing like college teenagers approximately this. little by utilising little u . s . is falling at the back of something of the international, extraordinarily quickly we are going to be the undeveloped u . s . and Japan, China, India will wager he super skill. Bush would not incredibly care with regards to the study besides, he desperately needs to attain factors together with his base and his party so he's utilising this as an risk (this guy has a 29% approval score - lowest for any president, even Nixon did greater desirable!).

I cannot believe that this is the attitude of a supposedly advanced civilization. It makes me thankful for the National Health Service and the welfare state in the UK. It seems, however, that bureaucracy is stupid and blind no matter which nationality it is.

I am sorry to hear about your family's problems. I hope that they can overcome them.

    Good luck to you all.

    Big government = Big Waste.

My heart goes out to the situation you are all in. Life isn't fair sometimes. Blaming the gov't is the easy thing to do. Seek support from your community and church and do the best you can in the meantime.

I am so sorry for this situation.

YES our Government is loaded with waste and fraud. That is just one reason it is so important to have smaller Government.
