Does anyone really think Resident Evil 5 is racist?
That is so stupid. First of all, in all the other Resident Evil games the zombies were white, and in many of those they were American. No one cared when they were white, but as soon as black people are involved, it's another excuse to play the race card. Undoubtedly, they would say it was racist if it was set in Africa and the people weren't black, because that's discrimination.
Secondly in games like Grand Theft Auto, a black person goes around shooting white people, and the whites aren't even zombies but that's all good because it's an example of black people getting back at the white oppressors. slavery was 150 years ago! The effects have long since washed away! GET OVER IT! The only MAJOR remnant of racism today is when a white person is winning a debate with a black liberal at work over something political and gets chewed out by HR for racism.
These people are being the stereotypical black Americans that get offended by everything. Why can't we all just see past color? please!
to the genius who asked how I knew they were white:
You clearly have never played a RE game. You could tell they were white because the T virus and Las Plaga didn't change skin color just there actions and eyes.
Also, for every person who won't vote for Obama because he's black, there are too who will for just that reason.
Finally, I never answered the question I asked if anyone thought it was racist, which I guess you have inadvertently answered.
People from Spain are considered white
You aren't the sharpest tool in the shed are you Brendla?
Ok give me his contact info we need to have a serious discussion on his grading scale.
because you aren't coming across as intelligent at all I'm sorry.
ok give me his email address you won't send it to him.
And You're crying over someone who's not crying over a game. So who's the real dumbass here?
So what then? You won't give me the info because this math professor of yours doesn't exist? Do you even go to college?
And I notice when things get tough you play the race card again! You have been trained well

Capcom stated the reason for going to Africa with this game is because it's supposedly the root of the T and G Virus, connecting with human life itself (which also stemmed from Africa). So, no, I don't believe this game is racist at all.
If they didn't have black people, that would (1) be weird (2) also be considered racist. Don't forget Resident Evil 4 was a (hot) white guy killing Spaniards. I don't believe that had any racist remarks (I could be wrong). But as soon as it's black people, "Stop the presses! That game is racist!"
Besides, Capcom is a Japanese based company (as I'm sure you all know). Japan is famous for its, what?
Xenophobia and ignorance towards minorities.
They're going to portray those zombies how they want.
And even that has nothing to do with race.
I'm pretty sure it would have been designed and rendered the exact same way had it been any race.
The Japanese don't give a flying f*ck about it and neither should we.
TL; DR
It isn't racist at all.

I'm Black and I'm a huge fan of the Resident Evil series. I've played through each of the main games (RE 0 - RE 4) multiple times, and as such, I think I can speak with a little authority on the subject. So what I have to say is this...
I could kind of see how RE 5 might give some people pause at first glance, especially here in America considering our history here and the well-known racist incidents towards Black people over the past few years. However, I'm willing to bet that most if not all the people who are complaining about this are unfamiliar with the series. Unless they know what's actually going on, it may (and obviously can) be misconstrued as something racially motivated, particularly in today's almost overly politically correct society.
But personally, I don't think RE 5 is racist. And nobody else I've talked to, Black, White or otherwise, thinks it's racist either. In every RE game leading up to RE 4, the main characters were killing droves upon droves of White zombies (and at least one Black one - Marvin Branagh from RE 2/RE 3, aka - the "Will Smith Cop"). The collective was silent. RE 4 took place in Spain (although Capcom still denies it), so Leon fought and killed Spanish people. From what I heard, Hispanic/Latino people had little if anything to say. RE 5 takes place in Africa, which is essentially a continent full of Black people. I wonder, who else do these people expect Chris to fight? All they've seen or have heard about is some American White guy killing Black people. Nevermind that Chris is only attacking and killing in self defense because the people are infected with something that makes them want to murder him on sight. I want to ask these people, "So...what - if Chris wasn't White, the killing would somehow be more acceptable?"
In short, the people who are complaining about RE 5 need to get down from their soapboxes and actually find out what these games are all about. Right now, all they're doing is taking things out of context and jumping to conclusions. However, since you wanted to bring slavery into the conversation, I will say this...
While I agree that RE 5 is not racist and that we should all should see past color, I totally disagree that the effects of slavery "have long since washed away." If you honestly believe that racism against Black people simply vanished when slavery ended, or even when the Civil Rights Movement ended for that matter, then you're either in deep denial or you just haven't been paying attention. Sadly, the fact is that there are still some racist White people out there that continue to brutalize us, rape us, murder us, treat us like animals and try to make us feel worthless, in addition to subjecting us to more covert racism. For those naysayers out there, look up the James Byrd, Jr., Amadou Diallo, Jena Six, Genarlow Wilson, Logan Six, Tarika Wilson, and Sean Bell cases. And those are just some of the ones we know of.
This isn't a ploy to gain sympathy or an attempt to "play the race card;" it's simply the truth. Racism still exists, whether you want to believe it or not.
Just my two cents.

Lets see you ask a question and then answer yourself? Thats amazing lol. But how do you know the zoobies were white? They had super pale skin and green guts and sunken eyes don't tell me thats how the average white looks like.
But America is not equal yet to play equal look at Obama he is mixed and yet gets hate mail , sorry but we need no games helpping kkk members practice their shootings on us in a game form.
To the above poster please don't stop him I think its funny he ask a question and then answers himself and then say we are complaing and he made this post first. Love it!
To the poster below named Tyler....................OMG YOUR FUNNY lol what does that have to do with anything just saying your race? lol that was awesomly funny!!
So there white because white people change eye color and their actions to pure evil? And yes I have played the game how dare you question me on that!
People from Spain are considered white..................so am white well half way? Now thats new and mostly since I seen blacks who are Spain there. wow I am learning so much eye colors and spain people.
Will I get the best answer?
Well am the only one in my math class to have a A so far and my professor thinks I will make a great Doctor someday so ask him.
LOL and you are? You are sitting here crying over a video game!!! But if you want to e-mail my college professor let me know in a message e-mail and I will be more then happy to.
Maybe he can calm you down about video games and get you outside for some much needed air and pills.
Yup you need help you post about a game then asnwer yourself and now getting bent out of shape because you want to shoot black people, and now cursing over it.
You need help big time am sorry but try a new hobbie like tennis or go fish.
Race card you brought of race you nut and I would but I will not have you ask and talk in a manner to my professor like you are doing with me. Now if you were nicer and not some nut I would becuase I am in college and about to transfer soon to another state but I go tomdc.edu for now as a starter for just a few more terms.
But get a life and leave the games alone and were done. If you want to shoot some blacks call 911 and say so!

San Andreas was the only GTA game to have a black person as the main character. I haven't heard anyone claim Resident Evil 5 was racist so calm down.

Sorry, one of your "stereotypical blacks" who have never seen this movie or played that game. You must be a genius to know what ALL black people think before they say it. Sounds like typical hate group rhetoric. You have the audacity to say get past color, lol. We should really follow your example.

I've actually heard the same thing, and I doubt the peole saying it have played any other RE games, all the other were killing white people.....the game is set in africa, so of course you wouldnt see a bunch of chinese zombies running around

i think your getting more worked up than the people who complained about that game. your the one complaining now so your no different. how about ignoring it all instead of trying to start an argument with people online?
your just making all matters worse, ive never heard anyone call that game racist but apparently you didnt ask this question to find out who did, but instead just complain. you need to GET OVER IT. plus we can pretty much play the race card anytime we want...and theres nothing you can do about it
- Yvonne CesaroLv 61 decade ago
Dude it's a video game not that serious. Same goes for the morons complaining.

What the hell is your problem? White people use EVERYTHING as an excuse to whine.
