My daughter is 10 mnths old and starting to walk. She has a pair of stride rites but do you have any other suggestions for where I can purchase good walking shoes for her?

I suggest getting the light weight leather 'shoes' at target. They just give protection and they look cute. A child that is learning to walk does not need shoes unless they are outside and can step on something sharp or catch a bacterial infection. It has been proven that children who are learning to walk withOUT wearing shoes are much more sucsessful than children that wear shoes. I let my daughter run around the house barefoot all the time, but put lightweight 'barely there' shoes on her when we would go out. Strid rites are awesome too! Good luck! ;)

I live stride rite but they are so expensive. Walmart has walking shoes in the baby department. I got them for my niece and she wears them everyday. They are like 10 bucks.

I bought a pair from walmart for my son in the shoe department they were athletic brand or something they were flexible and 7 dollars he wore those until he grew out of them.. He is 14 months and in Stride Rite.

Stride Rite is a great store for kids shoes. If she is just learning to walk you need to get shoes with a hard bottom.

It's best for a kid not to wear shoes when they are learning to walk in order to have proper development of their support muscles. If they are supported by shoes they may fall into some poor habits.

They should be bare foot in the summer at parks and in the yard - it's good stimulation for their feet to feel the different textures. But if you're going to stores or somewhere not as clean...I would suggest Keen shoes for kids.

Barefoot is best. But the two brands of shoes I used on my little girl were Robeez and Pedi-peds. They have a very nice selection for girls and boys. Cute patterns and many different colors. They are very flexible shoes that do not restrain your child's foot. They are the next best thing to bare feet. You'll love all the adorable choices they have to offer. You can find them almost anywhere. They both have their own websites or sometimes you can find them cheaper on endless.com. Although on some of the other websites you may not have such a vast selection that you have if you purchase them through their own store. Have fun shopping for shoes!

I read somewhere that it's better for kids to learn to walk barefoot and after they get really good at that add the shoes. She should pick it up in no time. That's what we did with our daughter since she started walking at the same time as yours. She's now 1 and walks normal.

Heavy catchy soles are the worst. You should check out those soft leaher shoes they make, Target sells them. I've known a pediatrican to say that they should learn in bare feet or soft shoes. All you need is a broken nose for your tot because her soles caught on the floor!!

My doctor said bare feet are the best. Raised 4 kids this way and they all did just fine without learning to walk with shoes.

I used shoes called Robeez for my daughter, they're like mokisins and have no support whatsoever. it's best to go barefoot but my daughter was learning to walk in the middle of winter so I had to keep her little feet warm.

There's these new leather shoes for toddlers learning how to walk called bobux shoes. They're really comfy for them, they can be used outside and they have different varieties. Here's their website.
