I just had a baby 2 weeks 5 days ago is this normal?

Ok so i had my son July 1st. I stopped bleeding a week and a half after i had him. Then started bleeding again and am passing blood clots and cramping. Do you think this is my period? Isn't it to soon to be starting that already?

Hi! our Sofia was born on June 24.

It is pretty normal and IT IS NOT a period, but you are may be just loosing some clots of blood lost during birth for some local internal bruises and scratches. It should slow down and disappear soon, usually before your "first month" visit, as it happened to my wife for our previous son. If the blood is bright and quantity increases, call your doctor or go to the nearest ER dept.

Been there twice you are fine. remember you had not seen your period in 9 months. your body is just cleaning it self out naturally just do not have sex because that will put extra stress on it. Do not worry unless you are bleeding so bad that you are soaking your pads ( no tampons please) like 10 in 3 hr. Drink some herbal tea and take some pain reliever for cramps and do not do any heavy lifting but the baby :) you will be suprised at how many women will move the sofa because they are bored with no supervision.

I know this sounds nasty but does it smell worst than normal? I had the same thing happen and it was an infection from the seperation of the placenta. They put me on antibiotics and all was good. Also are you breast feeding? That usually delays your period for a few months as well. I would definitally give your gyno a call in the morning. Best of luck to ya.

yes this is normal. The same thing happened to me after I had my son. I bleed for 2 weeks stopped for a week then bled for 4 weeks . My doc said it was my period. My daughter I bled for like a week and I didn't get my period till like 2 months later, which my doctor also said was normal. Congrats on your lil one!!!

I suggest you see a doctor, the clots and cramping worry me. It may be you need to have a curette or D&C which alot of women experience following childbirth due to parts of the placenta remaining in the uterus.

    Better to be safe.

    Take care.

Everybody is different so this isn't necessarily abnormal, but if you are concerned the best thing to do is check in with your doctor about it. Even calling the office and speaking with a nurse might help.

Call your Dr. and get a check... Better to err on the side of caution....
