Cremation after death?

So, what happens to you if you are cremated after death, instead of being burried? Can you go to heaven? Or do you go to hell?

Why do you think this?

Update:

WOW! Thanks for all the interesting opinions. I just wanted to see others view points on this. As asinine as it might have seemed it still wasn't the dumbest question on here lol

I know that the body and soul are separate, but thanks for point that out.

However, my dear husband, as much as I love you, I still don't want to be worm food. I'm sorry!

No, you should have your remains lie next to your beloved husband for all eternity.

It's what he would want. =P

The body and the soul are not the same thing.

Think about it -- ever seen an open casket at a funeral? The body of a loved one was inside, but you could tell the soul was gone, right?

So how the body is treated after death has no impact on what happens to the soul.

  • I have opted for Cremation rather than rotting in some hole in the ground. I dont believe it has anything to do with going to heaven or not. That is a spiritual thing..the other is an economical thing for myself and my family. I have never agreed with the concept of chemical pumped into my body and laid out in an ugly outfit for all to see.

What makes me, "me", disappears, and nothing goes anywhere. All that's left is my body, sprinkled over the sea as ashes.

There is insufficient good evidence for me to believe in the afterlife, and I cannot simply go on faith. If gravity is provable, and does not need our belief to exist, then anything else asserted as real should also stand up to the same requirement. When told to 'just believe,' that makes me suspect that there is something fishy.

When my father died, I was told by a priest that the human body is just one form that the soul takes on, and in the "afterlife", it takes on another form. In other words, our souls live on indefinitely. My Dad was cremated and both of my Grandparents were not. I believe that they are all together, now...because their souls were not touched when they passed away.

I don't think it affects anything, because yo don't always have the choice.

I personally don't want to be cremated, but it wouldn't sprise me if that eventualy becomes our only option....we're going to run out of space at some point

At the end of the day I believe your spirt goes to heaven and hell NOT YOUR BODY

So if you cremated, burried whatever.. It doesn't matter :]

you can go wherever it is just a shell, you leave that shell the minute your heart stops beating xxxxxx

i think this because my dad was cremated and about a month after i visited a medium and she told me things that only me and my dad knew, he was there with her and made contact, and said he was safe and well. (gues that would mean he was not in the naughty place down under) xxxx

i've never been a religious person but i believe in God with all my heart.

i truly believe that He wants my spirit, my soul and not my broken, useless body.

i believe that you go to Heaven through deeds and actions that you commit in life.

i will be cremated- i can't see taking up ground space.

No heaven - No hell because there is no god

My ashes to be scattered on a field to be ploughed by a shire team

My elderly Mother decided not to be an organ donor because she was afraid that any postmortem surgery might "hurt" her soul.

    She opted, instead, for cremation.

Anyone who thinks they can explain this position to me, please feel free to try.

    And good luck.
