Doctor's office withholding records?

I am trying to get medical insurance, and i need some information from my doctor's office about a procedure i had done a year ago. I have been calling for a week, and for whatever reason, the nurse won't give me the information i've been requesting. I get the feeling that the results i'm looking for aren't even in my file. She keeps telling me she needs to call the lab for something that should be readily available to her in my file. What can i do to get my records asap so that the insurance company i'm trying to get insurance through doesn't drop my application? thank you!

Try asking the nurse to connect you to your doctor. If that fails, see them in person, that ought to make them take you more seriously. Keep in mind that the nurse might ACTUALLY be getting reports from the lab too. If all else fails, legal action would be advisable. Hope you get your insurance work done, good luck!

Nothing says i want it now like showing up in person. Call ahead and let them know your coming and then show up and request to review your medical records. They won't give you any trouble it is your right to view your records.

Sounds like you might have to use the law.
