What "race" is my baby?
I am Caucasian American, my husband is Pakistani, or Asian. Sometimes on paper work and forms you have to put your race. I was filling out something for my baby the other day and it asked for race. I don't know what to put, honestly. I do not want to put on race in front of the other. I was wondering what do mixed race people do in such situations.
Pakistanis are not Middle Easterners, they are Asian. A few people who answered kind of implied that I didn't know what my husband's race is. He puts Asian if he has to because Pakistani is usually not an option.
Also, the papers that I was filling out the other day was a Medicaid application, and it just asked RACE. No choices, just fill in the blank. I have a few friends who were denied Medicaid for not filling the forms in correctly so I was not sure I could just skip it.
I like the answer "HUMAN". But I guess Other is the best one.
I don't think it should ever be asked on any form, except maybe on a medical form where different races are more likely to have certain medical problems.
@Exiquiste Soul, who's angry? I'm not angry, not at all. :-) had no intention of sounding angry, sorry if I did. If anyone wants to put Pakistan in with Middle East, cool, go ahead, but if you ask a Pakistani, they more than likely will not consider themselves Middle Eastern, language reasons. (And I thought Asia Minor was Turkey.)
Yes, mixed or other sounds best, and I guess he can decide what he wants to put when he gets older.
Thanks for all the answers.

you're making an extremely good aspect. i don't believe of actual conservatives imagine like this, even if. both the Republican AND Democratic activities were taken over through those with ulterior motives...it truly is strictly the reason i'm no longer a Democrat and owe 0 loyalty to both of the activities in any respect. IMO, a real American Patriot thinks with the structure and bill of Rights, and what's perfect for u . s . of america, no longer some thing of the international. maximum human beings no longer imagine like this and can want to easily particularly watch television and the in ordinary words information that they get is from the media... how a lot of them easily have examine the "Patriot" act or any of the present expenditures popping out of Congress? It takes time, yet protecting your rights do. to respond to the question that you requested, you're top. Socialism is strictly that. the hot international Order that Bush Sr. has talked about is contained in the approach of happening and it truly is the outcome. agencies that they prefer round will be positive, and ones that the elite do not care about gained't be positive. The negative get poorer and the rich get richer...trickle down idea is in simple terms BS.

You are not required to answer the race question and can just check other if you like. Many believe that the questions of race are outdated, all humans are essentially the same race - human. When it comes to ethnicity, we are all so mixed that there is no point in distinguishing one from another. There is no such thing as "pure". Enjoy your baby and when he gets older remind him that he is great the way he is, without a label.

your baby's race is Human. It's Ethnicity is multi-cultural AMerican.
To Clarify:
we are the Human Race.
The term Racist is as assinine as it is inaccurate.
YOu don't have to put down your ethnicitiy on any form, though Jewish people should if the form asking comes from the Hospital or an urgent care clinic. Jews are actually genetically different enough that they cannot accept blood or organs or tissue from from any other ehtnicity.
(can't get much more original than that)
YOU NEVER have to answer that question. I dont. What I look like is secondary to to who I am and what I need.

You can do one of two things:
1) checkor circle both Asian and Caucasian
2. check 'mixed race' if that is an option
30 write in 'Other', causcasian and Asian
Sometimes there will already be an option that says 'other' or 'mixed race', which you of course can and should check.
Happy paperwork!

Most people go by what the father is.
IE
My best friends dad is white and her mom is black. She considers herself white.
I know someone else who's dad is Native American and mom is black. She's considered Native American. So I would say you're baby is pakistani/Asian.

Actually Reem, to say that Pakistan is in the middle east is correct. The Middle East is part of Asia Minor, so why are you angry?
And in answer to your question, mixed, unless you can choose multiple categories, which I think you can.

There is normally a space that says other. I will select that one for mixed races. You're right, while studying my master one of my classmates did a research study about that. They should add a space that states mixed race with a space for you to fill.

You would check "other", and there is usually space to explain excatly where you child is descended from. However, with the rise of mixed race children, many different institutions are adding additional spaces for explantion, or are allow the option to check "All that apply"

Usually people put the race of the place where they were born. So if it was born in the US, i would say American.

Back in the day, for my daughter who is biracial, I used to circle both black and white and put arrows between them.
Fortunately these days, most papers allow for "other" or "multiracial." This is what my daughter does if they allow it. Otherwise, she'll leave stuff blank if forced to pick one over the other.
However, be prepared for pressure to list your child as the minority, especially when it comes to school. Why? School districts get $$$ for how many minorities are listed...so some school want to maximize this. It sucks but it's politics.
