Why is it bad to wear jewelry during an x-ray?
Before I was asked to remove any jewelry I had for an x-ray. I had a nose ring in and asked if I had to remove it and they told me no. So what's the deal?

You only need to remove jewelry or metal in the area of interest. For a chest x-ray, we would ask you to remove a necklace, nipple rings, a shirt with buttons or snaps and bra. For an abdominal x-ray, we would ask you to remove naval ring, pants which have buttons and zippers and belt. For a hand x-ray, we would ask you to remove a bracelet and rings. Metal in the area of interest, will look white on the x-ray film. So, if you happen to have abnormal pathology in that area, the radiologist will be unable to see it.

It could cause problems.
It blocks the view of what they were trying to actually see. Your ears and nostrils are in line with your jaw. Lip and tongue jewelry would definitely obstruct the view of your teeth, gums, etc. So, the reason they ask you to remove the jewelry is so that they don't waste film getting pictures that are useless to them.

I don't know but.... I think they just dont want it getting in the way of the X-Rays, because metal attracts some electromagnetic waves?

It comes up on the Xray if they are looking at that part of your body. It then comes up on the film as an obstruction and ruins the xray.
