Bush's war in Iraq has already lasted longer than WWII and will exceed the cost of the Vietnam War soon...

The total military cost of the Vietnam War in 2008 dollars is $686 billion. Bush's war has already cost $648 billion to date.

On top of wanting America to stay in Iraq for the next 100 years, McCain also promises to start a new war with Iran if elected. Now that bush's 7-year recession is teetering on the brink of a full-blown depression, can America even afford such a thing? Is there any light at the end of the war party's tunnel?

The lesson here is never get involved in a war or bar fight if you can avoid it. So many times the guy that thinks he can't lose lands up face down on the floor wondering how the little punk he thought he could whip with one hand behind his back kicked his....a...... anatomy! No matter what anyone says, this Iraq adventure was and is about controling the oil of the middle east. Now, billions of borrowed dollars later and tens of thousands dead or maimed on all sides of this conflict we neither control any oil nor have we made a dent in Terror Inc. We have managed to institutionalize the 'War on Terror' just as Terror Inc. has institutionalized The War Against the Far Enemy. To prevent a total free fall in our economy and to deal with a non centralized Terror Inc., a lot of things are going to have to happen at once. Getting the Bush Junta and the entire 'New American Century' operatives out of the picture is task one. Formulating a covert and a non-conventional war response to the dozens of individual terror organization is task two. Reducing our bloated military comes next and putting a stop to the insane 'borrow money to pay our bills' fiscal policy of the Bush years comes along with step #2. Refiguring our ruinious trade policies to advantage the US wage-earner has to be part of the mix and moving rapidly toward 21st century technology to keep the lights on and the wheels on the road must be a part of the package. I don't know if the American public will be willing to do these things...the non-stop propaganda against any of the above via the right wing radio goofs and FOX 'News' as always will have a major influence on the coming elections. The voting public may decide to go along with old man McCain's warmed over Bush polices, or hopefully, take a leap of faith and give Sen. Obama a free hand to bring sanity to the table. I'm hopeful, but I paid off all my bills, decided to keep teaching for another couple of years and bought a 85 mpg motor scooter just to hedge my bets. We're in for some yeasty times, bro! Get braced! No kiddin'!

Some on this blog want to see McCain as the next President, knowing he will continue the expense to support this war in Iraq, while our nation is struggling to survive. I wonder among all these McCain supporters, how man have the survival skills for another depression that will surely come. How many will be willing to go fight when McCain brings back the draft or will they leave America to avoid that draft? Our nation is now $9 Trillion in debt a continued war will increase that amount. Corp. America get's tax deductions and some registered in those tax haven islands (Cayman & Bahamas ) pay no tax to help reduce this deficit. How many jobs will yet be outsourced? Do you McCain supporters feel confident you will never loose your jobs? Do you support McCain because you are closeted racist?

You know, I wonder why people choose to forget or not even notice the elephant in the room, but if we don't wake-up we can't blame McCain or Bush when we put them in position to carry out this type non-sense in a time when we are in a very vulnerably position as a country.

It's amazing how you libs think. I never did hear McCain say he was going to start a "new war" with Iran. As far as a depression is concerned, it won't happen. Some areas of the country are economically depressed for sure. I live in one of them. The country as a whole is far from depression.

You still want to send all the money we spend on Gas to the Arabs while a war is being won, instead of reading the trashy Daily Kos try reading the AP who now admit we are winning.

To answer the last section of your rant: Yes, America can afford it. We should stop funding illegal immigrants and stop giving handouts to those not in need, and then, we would have enough to finish what we started.

Regardless of your opinions regarding the war on terror, we did the right thing.

bush & cheney wimped out and didn't go fight in vietnam, so they have no clue what war is about...and since they and their cronies are growing richer off the American taxpayer they don't care.
