RAM Question (novice users stay clear)?

System (I built):

Amd Phenom 9550 2.21ghz

Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 (4 DIMM Slotts, Supports 1066 ram)

Ati Radeon 4850

4 x 1gb Kingston Hyper X RAM KHX8500D2K2/2G (1066mhz)

CPU-Z: http://i33.tinypic.com/2lbcqx2.jpg

is it all running as it should?

Update:

well, my question is a RAM question (as per the title) and im wondering why my Dram frequency is only 535mhz when i have 1066mhz ram>

Because DDR2 is Double Data Rate 2 ram. DDR2 cells transfer both on the rising edge and falling edge of the clock cycle.

    From Wikipedia.org-DDR2 Sdram:

Like all SDRAM implementations, DDR2 stores memory in memory cells that are activated with the use of a clock signal to synchronize their operation with an external data bus. Like DDR before it, DDR2 cells transfer data both on the rising and falling edge of the clock (a technique called "double pumping"). The key difference between DDR and DDR2 is that in DDR2 the bus is clocked at twice the speed of the memory cells, so four bits of data can be transferred per memory cell cycle. Thus, without speeding up the memory cells themselves, DDR2 can effectively operate at twice the bus speed of DDR.

All is running as it should. (I assure you)

No problem here, most memory is double data rate measured on the rise and fall of the curve. so the Bus speed is half of the speed and a factor applied, to give the total, DDR400 had a bus speed of 200Hz etc.

the respond to your question will probable rely on the hardware you have yet in many cases Ubuntu will run without challenge and without expert awareness required. fairly the maximum recent version 10.04 nicknamed "Lucid Lynx" My brother is an entire computer amateur and has been using Ubuntu with none matters for the previous 2 years once I counseled it to him. between the terrific issues approximately Ubuntu is they supply a "stay CD" which facilitates you to attempt the working equipment by using booting it from a CD quite of putting in it. as quickly as booted, you are able to attempt it out. in case you come back to a kind which you like it you are able to merely click an icon on the Ubuntu computer and deploy it completely from there.

Everything looks good, as far as I can see from the provided specs.

Good job with that. Just make sure your cooling works well, could have a disaster on your hands if a fan isn't connected.

I'm not sure I can answer the question because it is your computer and you should know that!

But I will assume that you are asking about the computer's specs. if it is good or not. In my point of view it is OK.

    Good luck

those figures need to be doubled 535 is 1066 (1070 actuall) because DDR2 is Double-Data-Rate so yes your computer is fine

could be faulty ram...if it is you should be able to get a refund
