Blue Topaz vs. Aquamarine vs. Blue Zircon, which one is better?

I've just bought a Blue Topaz a week ago because I want a gemstone that have a rich blue color. I picked Blue Topaz because Aquamarine gemstones are more expensive and yet the blue color is not deep enough. But when I went to my gemologist friend, he said it wasn't a blue Topaz, it's actually a blue Zircon. He told me that my gemstone have a good physical appearance and I can see a hint of green color under heavy white light without disturbing the rich blue color. Even when I took its picture with a camera I just can't capture the green color, it can only seen by naked eye.

I just wondering, how good is it if I compare it with Aquamarine or blue Topaz? Should I be happy if my gemstone is actually a blue Zircon?

Blue Topaz is much prettier than either of those and it's still pretty pricey in the high end stores, I bought my grandmother a 300 dollar necklace with blue topaz stones so I personally vote for blue topaz.

Blue Topaz and Blur Zircon are similar but have different qualities. Both are heat treated or irradiated to make the blue color.  You mentioned green undertones only seen by your jeweler which occurs in Blue Zircon whereas Blue Topaz can go more to the pink or purple spectrum. Additionally Blue Zircon is only cut in certain cuts as the facets can chip easy. Blue Zircon is not cubic zirconia and is a natural gemstone! Zircon can be more sparkly like diamonds than Topaz IMO.

Aquamarine is in the Beryl family (like Emerald) and can be much more expensive. Most Aquamarine is lighter blue with the deeper blues fetching a much higher price. It does have a blue green quality like Blue Zircon and can also be treated to enhance the color.

Personally, I would not be upset with the Zircon. I have seen Zircon go for triple the price of Topaz.
