How do I tell my dad that I failed a course :( ?

I failed one course last term but my uncle passed away (AY) right before my finals started and I wasnt doing so well but I was on the verge of passing but with the final, I didnt have a chance but i repeated it this summer and got an A-, now the other course I was taking with it this summer, i failed it!

I guess I was concentrating too much on doing well on the other one that im repeating. Now, I dont know how to tell my father because I promised him that It wouldnt happen again.

And im supposed to be the smart one in the family, the course I failed last term was the first time I fail ANYTHING.

It was my dad's younger brother that passed away and i dont want to disappoint him now, he is still going through the grieving process and I cant tell him ANY bad news.

Im a third year construction engineering student if that..helps. :S
